  • RE: Dehen

This is my first time posting so fit pics so don’t judge too hard. I had to set the timer up and use my front camera from a low angle…I guess this is the angle my children see 😄

The new flyers club Jacket is a M, fits really well and I took a picture of the lining which now has some insulation.

  • RE: Introduce Yourself Here

Hello, I thought about doing this for a while but never did. I am Tim and I'm South African but I have been living in Hamburg with my family for nearly 8 years. We moved here for work, not the weather, but the weather does give me a chance to wear some great stuff including many items from Iron Heart. I've been a fan of Iron Heart for a few years and I've slowly been building up a nice collection but I haven't really posted on the forum much, I've been lurking in the shadows until @goosehd convinced me to start posting. Please direct you complaints directly to @goosehd 🙂

Thanks for having me and please try not to make anything really cool for a while.

@Brandrea @Mizmazzle They were great, I emailed them and they spoke to their production and came back to me today with a shipping label and asked me to send it back to them to repair.

Hats off to Dehen, they did good. Their stuff is great and I'm happy to see they also fix defects without a question.

  • RE: Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?

    Blanket Lined Duck Canvas Jacket

    Hello!

I have been a fan of the forum and IH for years and I have many great items which I am absolutely loving. I have waited in the shadows for a particular jacket for a few years but I have never seen it. I now feel compelled to ask about this jacket and I am really curious to know why IH doesn't do something like this.

The jacket I so love is a blanket lined duck canvas jacket (brown, black or blue). I had the original Carhartt Detroit but the fit is not on point for me. I currently own the Carhartt WIP version which is, in my opinion, a really nice interpretation of the original jacket. However, it's modernized for the masses and is somewhat 'streetware' which means it has some short comings.

I searched the forum but I could not find a topic like this so here it is:
Would IH ever make, or has IH ever made, a blanket lined duck canvas jacket with a corduroy collar. I do own the whipcord jacket which has the cord collar and ventile lining which absolutely rips (IHJ-61), but it's not warm enough for Hamburg.

Since you asked for my opinion, I would say that jacket (IHJ-61) without the button at the hem, and perhaps with a single slit breast pocket, made from the 17oz duck canvas and lined with the blanket lining from the 101J in both black and brown would mean I will likely never ever take it off ever again. I'll show myself out now.

    Thanks!

  • RE: IHSH-342-OD - Ultra Heavy Flannel Crazy Check Work Shirt - Navy Overdyed Black

This is the best flannel you have made. It's an overdyed version of the best colour way from the season (IMO), which I never bought because I'm too black metal to wear so many colours! It's so good and it looks different in different lights; my wife thinks I have two of these depending on how sunny it is.

I know this is a random post but this shirt needs some extra love; so happy these exist!

  • RE: Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?

Maybe this has been suggested before, but what about a black version of the 101J-SR with the black 14oz sulfur dyed denim and a dark brown cord collar and a wool blend lining.

  • RE: IHSH-374-IND - 14oz Double Cloth Work Shirt - Indigo

I was just perusing the site, as one does, and noticed there are still all the sizes on this one. How!?

I saw this shirt at Burg and Schild in Berlin, and although I managed to get myself out of the store without it I didn't make the train ride home before placing the order. This is hands down tied for the best shirt I bought last year. What did it tie with you are thinking? It's the 342-OD; I wanted a overdyed flannel for a long time and literally rushed to the Hamburg store when you released those.

My advice: buy this shirt and give yourself a pat on the back for the excellent choice you made

  • RE: IHJ-124-BLK - 10oz Herringbone Work Jacket - Black

Looking at this seasons work jackets got me excited about wearing this again in the summer. I wore it a lot last summer, it's the perfect over a T-shirt and I had to give it a wash at the end of summer which actually showed a lot of the wear on this one. I was expecting the herringbone fabric to not show the wear much but your can definitely see it was worn. It's not that it has indigo like fades, but it certainly doesn't look new anymore.

Since I was doing this, I took some pictures of the varisty jacket too. Its a size small but fits almost as well as the M flyers club, just too slim to add a liner jacket but a thick flanel fits without a problem. I’m wearing the UES here but the UHF fits easily too.

  • RE: Iron Heart x Burg & Schild Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - All Black

I just picked up one of these second hand in size M. I am basically frothing at the mouth right now.

Last 2 IH drops that I was looking at I missed out on and this was one of them. I’ll post some pictures when it arrives!

I‘m weak. This one has the zip on the pocket too, I mean it‘s basically a completely different Jacket.

  • RE: IHM-39-BLK - Military Serge A2 Deck Jacket - Black

@manufc10 Thanks for the feedback. The measurements confirm your statements 🙂

Looks like sizing down to a S is the way to go for me. Feels weird to take a small size in IH, normally it's pretty snug but this one is definitely cut differently. Not a bad thing, I often size down to S in American brands or some of the Swedish Americana stuff like Indigofera.

I am really excited for this one! How heavy does this jacket feel compared to the N1? I had an A2 from Buzz Rickson some years ago (in a medium and the measurements are almost identical to the IH A2 in size S), at I really liked how light and soft it was. The problem with that jacket was the zipper, the number of times I gave up trying to zip it up and just buttoned it. Period correct are zippers are cool in theory...ideal and ykk number 8's are the best in real life.

  • RE: IHJ-143-IND - 12oz Kersey Work Jacket - Indigo/Black

On such a short jacket, and the fact that the zipper doesn't go to the bottom of the jacket, I would say a two way zipper isn't really required. My IHJ-61 had a two way zipper and I never used it; that jacket was also about 2-3cm longer than this. I also think the one way zipper on a work jacket like this is more classic (if that matters to anyone else 🙂 )

  • RE: IHJ-144-BLK - 12oz Kurashikizome® Twill Work Jacket - Black

@jaysomethin this arrived today. I‘m a medium in everything from IH including the shirts. Sometimes the medium jackets are snug and I can only wear them in summer, like the IHJ-61 and the IHJ-124.

This fits very well and I easily fit a UHF or a thick sweater underneath which is exactly as I hoped. It also looks good with a Tshirt under. Really happy about this one!

One note: it‘s a short jacket, so keep that in mind. For me, it‘s as short as I could go but I do have a long torso. That being said, I reslly love the shorter cut and because it‘s boxy, it works really well.

  • RE: Music: Metal/Punk Rock

There have been a couple of good shows here in Hamburg recently.

Scowl and Zulu played a few weeks back and ripped, I’m still buzzing from that show. If you don’t know Scowl, you should check them out.

Gel is playing tonight am I am really looking forward to it.

Anyone else here heard these bands?

@goosehd Thanks for the messages and here are some pictures!

I really like the writing on the inside, looks like it was part of the demin before the jacket was cut and sewn. I'm not expert on this jacket but it's a really nice piece.

  • RE: Dehen

    Hello friendly IH friends,
I am here for some top tips for those of you who have. I have been a fan of Dehen for some time and have a few of their pieces which I wear a lot, specifically the varisty jacket and the crissman wool shirts; they're absolute fire. I had some of the sweaters and cardigans too but the cuffs got to me, after wearing it all day I felt like my arms where slowly being suffocated and by the end of the day couldn't wait to get it off. I think that kind of cuff, the one on the cardigan, lends itself better to a jacket, in my limited an humble opinion of course.

Enter the question zone: I am considering the flyers club jacket in the 24oz melton wool as a layerable (I think I just made that word up, I take full credit for smoothlessly sliding it in) winter alternative to a very serious ceccarelli waxed down jacket I have for those ever so sunny and bright winter days in Hamburg. What's the word on the street about the flyers club jacket? I love the silhouette of the Jacket and the gold zipper really pops against the black wool. Don't get me started on the orange lining, damn, I love it. So, I'm sold on the Jacket but, and it's a big but, is it warm? Anyone?

  • RE: UES Clothing MFG .CO.

I've come here to rave about the UES flannels. I've had one this winter and man, it's so good. UHF's are of course amazing but they are quite dense and long where as the UES has a slightly slimmer fit and a bit of a looser weave I would say. I love it.

Not as warm as the UHF but I've already packed my UHF away and I still have the UES out, as I find it works better in these transitional months. It's so good I ordered another; the colours are a bit hit and miss I would say but I guess that means there is something for everyone.

Normally I would be disappointed but I'm actually thankful. Maybe you could consider a work shirt version for F/W 2026 🙂
