We'll see how this impacts GAH going forward. There's a lot to consider here.

• Yes, silver spiked. But the price of GAH was already extreme. Does this price it out of certain markets like Canada & the UK? Probably for the most part. There's a breaking point, and there's not a precise science to measure it.
• Can they still thrive in the Asian market (Vinavast is their bigger stockist I believe). Yes, they can.
• Wouldn't it make sense to subsidize entry level pieces like the Belt Loop Buddy with the Model 10? I would've thought so, and they are probably already doing that...but a piece like the Belt Loop Buddy gets so beat up by nature that it makes little sense at that price point...

Regardless, it's a huge bummer for hardcore fans of the brand.

Just grabbed one from Blue Button. 30% for black friday! Couldn't resist, even though didn't need another IH jacket ...

@hgering27 i would say no. it allows flexibility of where it sits, which is key if you wear multiple pants. and it allows you to wear your chain when you're wearing non belt loop backs (think rick owens pod shorts)

the problem with all this "silver is going to double!" talk is that things are constantly evolving. and the value of silver absolutely tanked in the 80s. driven by some margin calls.

i know that's old history for many people, but it's important to take everything (esp. finance related in an unstable world) with a healthy degree of skepticism.

so, we'll see. bottom line is GAH (already pricey) is now into a price point that is higher than the average IH customer's comfort range (imo). As you said, average wages aren't going up much.
