    • RE: IH-555S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Slim Jeans - Indigo

      Mornin'
Having been introduced to the merits of IH last year when @Filthy 21/23oz junkie was kind enough to offer up some 25oz IHxB01, I was hooked and knew I needed to pick up some more. It has taken a while but I am pleased to say I have just started to break in some of the fantastic 21oz IH555-01's.

A month or so ago, I was visiting London and took the opportunity to visit "Rivet and Hide" its a great place to shop, the guys are super knowledgeable and friendly. This was my first bricks and mortar denim shopping experience which was a revelation; shopping online is kinda blind even if you know your preferred measurements.

I also took advantage of their free hemming service in store; I only needed a little off the 36 length to achieve the neat double cuff I was after. I surprised myself how much I enjoyed watching the process and it was a good opportunity to indulge the inner denim obsessive, they even let me video the process! Examining the offcuts provided an insight into how the denim acquires its weight, the threads are super thick, and also exposes the white core of the "warp" hinting at what is to come in the evolution of the fades.

As is my habit, I have posted a little review on my YouTube, check it out, there is some footage of the hemming if that is of interest.
      Best regards,
      Chris

      Evenin'
I picked one of these up in the Christmas sale, perfect timing as I had been coveting a IH shirt for the best part of a year.

I was pretty much between sizes, the medium was near perfect, and felt that if the fabric yielded it would be a great slim tailored profile, albeit a tad short in the body. But not having experienced the material or denim shirts in general I was really worried about future shrink.. I think I have my denim wash regime nailed but any shrink on the chest etc would be challenging and on the length of body or arms probably irrecoverable! So… I went for the large, still a good fit but a little more generous to allow layering with a henley and I am considering a hot soak to see if I can get half a centimetre or so off.

(I also picked up a IHSH-62 Wabash, but the cut is more generous and the large I bought was returned, fantastic fabric and still on the list.. just need a medium!)

Really looking forward to the evolution of this denim, whilst I have dreams of deep honeycombs on the sleeves , I think this will be a long time coming!
      Best regards
      Chris

Well its been 6 months or so since I started on these 555-01's and I could not be happier with the construction, fit or quality of this mighty denim. They are indeed stubborn, and I am not in a position to wear all day every day but they are starting to yield some of the evolution secrets!

      In my normal style….. here's a video!

This is such incredibly sad news, I haven't signed into the Forum for at least a couple of years. I always think of Filthy when I think about Ironheart so to see his face as soon as I logged on was a joy but instantly I realised there wasn't going to be good news.

When I first joined in 2017, I was wondering how I should start my Ironheart journey, Filthy immediately reached out and offered to gift me a pair of his IHXB01… his name then if I recall was Filthy25ozJunkie relating to the fantastic denim that they were crafted from... he had struggled to break them in and had popped the button off the waist... he replaced it with a drilled out penny... the penny happened to be from my birth year which seemed to be a good omen... subsequently I too popped that off...

I still have the jeans, the penny... and fond memories of Mike...

    • FS ONI-277Bumpy-BRW (Yellowish Brown) 17oz Bumpy Denim Just Right Straight TAG 34

      Afternoon,
I picked up the new Oni Bumpy denim, in the 277 straight cut, and have concluded that a) I prefer a tapered leg and b) I am still in love with my current Crushed Concrete Onis.

These are unworn with tags attached and are in the brown over dye which will lead to some interesting fading and also initially some additional shrink. I am pretty sure these will stretch out well on the waist as Oni always does but do check the measurements and sizing charts online.

How about £175 shipped in the UK, BT PPF&F (further afield please ask ref postage).

      Waist 42cm
      Inseam 83cm
      Thigh 31cm
      Knee 24.5cm
      Cuff 21cm
      Front Rise 27cm
      Rear Rise 38cm

      All the best Chris

Looking good, as others say the roping on the hem is particularly lovely… I am just realising how much long term wear is needed to get a denim shirt to yield its fade'y secrets!

I have just picked up the 902ZR "relaxed taper" in the Oni 20oz secret denim… amazing fabric, loose weave, slubby, with an organic handmade feel... very impressive. I must say I am a bit worried about how much these will stretch out; they are not hard to break in like IHs, and I am wondering if I should have dropped another size!

Bought these from Denimio, great experience!

    • RE: IH-555S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Slim Jeans - Indigo

Since getting tangled up in this obsession, I normally try to focus on one pair each year; these have been my 2018 denim. Having worn them for the year I truly believe these are twice the jean compared to everything I have tried previously; twice as stubborn, twice as tough, and twice the weight!

These truly are fantastic, normally after a year jeans are showing signs of approaching the end of their useful life, blowouts on crotch and knees, but these look like they have another good year in them… amazing jeans and the best cut I have tried... it almost makes me not want to buy a new pair for 2019, almost!

    • RE: IHSH-33-T - 12oz Selvedge Denim Western Shirt With Tonal Stitching - Indigo

      @neph93:

Temperature is important for shrinkage, but so is agitation. Move it around and it will shrink more. Excuse me for getting down and dirty, but if you sweat anywhere near as much as I do you'll need agitation to get this shirt clean. My point being that gentle washing regimes with jeans are doable if you don't labour in them, shirts not so much. So there is an argument for just getting the shrinkage out.

I see what you mean, will see how it goes and keep an open mind to machine washes; our washing machine does have some very gentle programs that may be suitable!

      @neph93:

@DevonReviewer this is my documented shrinkage from the IHSH-33-IND. Same fabric so the shrinkage should be similar. For what it's worth the wabash of the IHSH-62 will shrink meaningfully too, with the correct treatment.

Thanks, sounds like a good opportunity to modify the fit… I have avoided machine washes for all my denim to date, and intend to continue, what do you think about a half hour bath tub soak at 40 and then 60 if I seek a bit more shrink?
