@yannis I feel attacked. All my hems are under 32 inches. Damn long torso and short legs! 😭

@GardenState. No worries my man. I think the hem differences are negligible at least on the 888 cut. The taper from knee to hem is not that big. I personally like wider hems anyways.

Trying to decide if I dare to order a pair of the 888 because I'm a slim guy (185 cm, 70kg). I've had a few different 555 and 777 but think they become to slim in the thighs after a few washes. So I'm trying to decide if I should size up in the 555 or try the 888. Any suggestions?

You can size up if the waist is snug. If not you will end up with a loose top block and they will sag. You can get away sizing up easier on the 777's in my opinion. The low rise is more forgiving with a roomy or loose top block. I don't see what is the apprehension if you size the 888's correctly. It's a solid cut and you can ger away with sizing down on those. Find out what your ideal.measurement are and get a pair that is as close to possible to those measurements.

I have a pair of 888-142 that fit very well, maybe a little looser than I would want but not crazy. For anyone that has owned both the 142 and the XHS, how does sizing ultimately compare after soak/wear in? If my size 34 142 fits pretty good should I get that same size in XHS?

@cricca I'm a pretty slim guy myself. I love the 888 cut. My favorite cut really.
The key to being a slim guy with the 888 is to size down as much as possible. I had to suck in my belly pretty good with my 888 XHS. But they stretched to the perfect fit now. (They were never really uncomfortable for me as they stretch pretty quick if you are only trying to get 1/2- 1" of stretch)

Others argue comfort right out the bag...but you may get a looser thigh and ass fit that way.

They will also snug up a bit in thigh and waist with a first cold wash.

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

@welfare_burrito. If the measurements of both 14OZ and XHS look similar yes go for the same tag size. I never had the need to size up for XHS. To me they fit just like the rest. So my answer is more likely same tag size but do a compare between both.

@bluemantra i think that looks ideal. How does it fit around the waist?
I just last night wore my brand new to me tagged 33 after a hot soak and cold rinse. The last button was very difficult to fasten. I had to lay down and suck my gut in. It was a struggle, but now 24 hours later, the waist and top block have relaxed and I can easily button everything - without any pressure or digging in to my hips.
The 888 is a revelation to me! I am a long time 555 and 666 owner, but never had the MOBILITY I’d prefer due to slimmer thigh/knee dimensions on those particular pants. Increasing tag sizes did not solve the MOBILITY issues I was having. These 888’s look just as modern as my other pants, but the higher rise and generous top block are a god send.
I have no real insight about sizing up or down. The jeans I’m wearing now were perfect everywhere pre-soak (towards the snug side) and I knew things would tighten up after the soak. I lost .5” in the inseam and they obviously snugged up in the waist. If I’m to be honest with myself, I should’ve sized up for a more comfortable pre-soak fit. But I’m glad I didn’t. I am definitely on the border of these being a size too small, but like I said they are definitely mellowing out and will be just fine.
I got a great deal from a forum member on these. They were brand new and hemmed to my ideal length, so I’m super pumped.

I should add… I am keen to get another pair of 888 in 21oz, and when I do I will size them to be perfectly comfortable out of the box. I have no interest is going smaller/tighter and relying on the waist stretching. I want the waist perfect right away. If it stretches, great. I wear a belt. Also I’m looking forward to hiking them up to fully advantage the high rise - which directly equates to better mobility and all day comfort for me.

for those that also have the 777-XHS did you size up in the 888? I had to size up to a 33 in the 777 for the thigh and knee measurements, waist is quite big. I'm thinking because of the more generous thigh and knee measurements of the 888 I can size down.

@bluemantra, the closest thing I have to a 777 will be my 25oz pronto double indigo. It's a Pronto cut but based on the 777. They are tag 40 and still slightly tight on the thigh. Needless to say I need a belt for the waist. The good thing is that the lower rise is more forgiving when the waist is big. To put it in perspective I can wear tag 36 in both 888's and 634. So in my case I have to go 2 tag sizes up to fit a 777 cut.
