Even though Timberland isn't on par with many of the other brands discussed here I still think they are a staple in the workwear genre.

Let's start with the most iconic one first, the 6" Premium Boot:

I got my first 6" premium boots seventeen years ago and still own two pairs. They're my go-to boots whenever the weather's really nasty and whenever I head to the woods or do hard work (construction etc.) or play around in muddy or grubby conditions. I love the fact that I never have to worry about waterproofness and that I can wash all the crap off and still have them looking good enough for the city. I also love the grip and looks of the lug sole and they're pretty light in comparison to my Red Wings so if I know I'll have to wear boots for an extended period (like when camping over a weekend) these are the ones that I'll grab. Simply put, they're just an iconic and often underestimated classic that just works.

Which gets me to my latest purchase, another Timberland icon:

I needed something relatively cheap to wear to the office and I've been kind-of wanting these on and off for quite some time. I just love lug soles and I think these will get loads of wear.

I think most of the other stuff Timberland makes is pretty much overpriced crap but some of the shoes do have loads of heritage and some quality left in them and they definitely have a place in my footwear rotation.

      AIAN HA-TO!

My Timberland Abington Hikers are by far the most comfortable, and hard wearing boots that I have ever owned. The quality of leather and stitching is miles in front of any RedWings which I have owned, including GT's. Last winter we had 2ft of snow where I live, and the Abingtons kept me on my feet right the way through, as I'm sure they will this winter. Pics to follow…

Timberland Boot Co boots are pretty awesome. I have 5 pairs right now, actually. Usually buy cheap and sell them used after I abused them for around the same price I bought them for. I usually only go for the Tackhead Style which has bad ass screwed on Vibram soles. Pretty sure it's Horween Leather and they're lined with wool. I've had 5 versions of the Tackhead line and I haven't been disappointed yet. I'm stepping it up and gettin some Wescos though. Timbo Boot Co basically rips off wesco anyways.

Here's a pic of some Tackheads with my barely worn IH634s I got off SuFu a few days ago.

I've been wearing my lug soled boat shoes for a couple of weeks now and I have to say that they are some comfy shoes! They breathe really well and feel quite lightweight as well. I definitely recommend these! Sizing is exactly like the premium boot, size down one full size from your sneaker (Nike AM 87/90/95 for example) size.

And on a side note, what's the opinion on these?

Personally I think they're hideous, the lug sole is such a classic silhouette on this boot.

Yeah those chukkas on top look really nice, but I tried a pair on last year and they didn't feel like a good quality shoe, very light in the wrong way and generally just mediocre. Hard to explain but anyway.

Those Nexusvii deck chukkas do look very nice but the price (+ 400 $) is just too much IMHO for a Timberland shoe even if the materials are top notch..

Timberland, iconic it's simple as that! Both the 6" and the 3 eyed classic are one's i've had numerous times and still currently have 6" in the blonde suede and brown leather and the 3 eyed in burgandy. One thing i will give  prop's for for on those styles is the quality has remained even when they shifted production to the Domoinican Republic although i wonder if the new owners will keep that up now that the Schwartz family has sold out.

Actually these things have reminded me about my 'Super' pair a 1o inch guide boot made with Pittards WR100 leather, Gore-Tex and 400grams of thermolite the nasty weather has no chance against those bad boys.

Where pray tell are these made as i'm guessing it won't be the US or Dom Rep?

Lucky you! I could say the same for us but to be honest i'd rather we had those cold winters we have had the past three years rather than the rain we normally get, in saying that NY's winters are proper bitter.
