@AtariHunter my friend I understand you, I gave up on many things just because I had to wait years to get them, I also wanted to order them directly from Wesco, (in my case in addition to shipping there was 30% customs duties and taxes to pay 😔😔😔) . So I looked on Ebay and found an American shop that had just stocked Stompers Boots and I bought them there, at an excellent price I must say.

Thank you very much! Unfortunately I need a pair in size 7.5 E which isn‘t available anywhere…

@seawolf nice work on your homemade insoles, and very beautiful tool for cutting leather! What is the tool called?

FWIW I have pull loops on my Lou's and almost never use them...TBH they feel a little flimsy for regular hard pulling...if used often, I could see that being the first point of failure on the boot. But that's totally conjecture of course.

            don't miss pull loops either
the way the heel stay is sewn in on the inside of the shaft gives a nice bunch of leather to grab when pulling on the boots

I also don't think I've ever used them, maybe I've always made mistakes, you never stop learning 😔

I use the pull loops every time I put my boots on, yank 'em quite hard too and they're not going anywhere, FWIW.

@motojobobo Thanks! It’s called a round knife, and it’s very similar to another style of leather knife called a head knife. Both serve similar purposes, but this one is particularly special because not only can I use it for the traditional push-cut, it also has a sharpened edge that I can use for a pull-cut. A huge benefit to a knife like this is that you can cut through very thick leather quite easily and with surprising agility. I added a nice lanyard to it and wrap it around my thumb for a better grip.

Hey yall! First post on the forum here with my first pair of Wescos. On my fourth day straight since getting them and my big toes were hurting like HELL until common sense kicked in and I put on some thinner socks, fit is pretty much spot on now. They’re so sick and so beautiful, I’m slowly but surely getting over the initial reluctance to getting them worked but I can’t wait to see the evolution of these through the years. Here’s some pics with my 555s featuring their first, albeit minimal, scuff marks! 🤠🤟

@Oaktavia killer! Nice to see a Maryam pair with some patina, haven’t seen any others posted anywhere with brown showing through! Gives me hope for mine. Those would look great with a polish too.

Thanks dude somehow I just saw this. What would polish do exactly? I am still pretty ignorant to most things boots and new to this hobby.

could be mistaken, but thinking that "polish" comment was intended to be more of a leather care comment to give them a minor clean with a horsehair brush and a damp rag or whatever and followed up by some conditioning like mustang paste or obenaufs to moisturize, prevent dry spots and potential cracking, and help protect it from the wet.

@pechelman ah ha that's what I particularly thought but also reckoned they meant a darkening black polish or something which I wouldn't want. I love how the black is fading to brown and don't want to lose that. I probably should give them a spa day soon though.

@Oaktavia I meant more along the lines of a clear polish/wax, would make them really pop and still showcase the patina. Mine are still very tight in the instep, don’t really feel like they’ve broken in at all. Hoping that changes!

@nrtphotos do you have a product you could recommend? I am nearly out of a jar of Saphir.

The instep for both pairs of Mr. Lous I have took a long ass time to finally break in. Then suddenly I had to start tightening the strap above the instep which surprised me. I went from having it on the second loosest hole for over a year to now the tightest hole on the strap. I hope that I can replace the insoles soon too.

Hi everyone! I am also thinking of adding a pair of these to my wardrobe once they restock here...

What can you tell me about heelslip? I tried a pair of Lofgrens the other day in half size up from my Red Wing size.. I felt like wearing my dads shoes as a toddler. I prefer a snug fit on my boots and feel very uncomfortable with heelslip. So how much is normal, or can an engineer also fit like a very snug laceless boot like a chelsea? My RW Classic Chelsea does not feel loose at all.

Heel slip is more of a feature with slip on engineer style boots. The trick is to find a secure fit in the forefoot so it doesn't feel sloppy. It reduces as the sole breaks in and moves with you when walking but it's always there. Anywhere from a quarter to half inch of heel lift is about what most people say. Slipping might imply the heel is rubbing on the back which is what you want to avoid.

@FlavourFade sounds like they are slightly too big. My engineers are the same size as my red wings
