Selfedge guest book and visits

Derek helped me out. I tried on indigo SEXIH107, 634SR, 9301 Slim Super Black (which I already own), SEXIH03 (Self Edge x Iron Heart Cyclist in Indigo), and SEXIH03BK (Self Edge x Iron Heart Cyclist in Black). I ended up walking out with a pair of the black cyclist jeans – W28.
I was all ready to buy a pair of W28 IH464 (flare cut) but Giles informed me that there were none in stock and no planned future production runs. Too Bad !
But since the idea of buying yet another pair of Iron Heart jeans was already so-o-o stuck in my OCD fucking brain, I paid a visit to Self Edge in San Francisco tonight after work.
Glad I did ! I'm amazed that I never seriously considered these gorgeous cyclist jeans before, during my numerous jaunts to Self Edge SF. I think the label "cyclist" threw me off, since I don't bike. No matter -- they are ridiculously flattering on my body type. After trying on the IH STF un-sanforized jeans and not really feelin' them, Derek pulled the cyclist outta the Self Edge cabinet and said -- "You'll love these". He was right on !
Honestly, I can't bring myself to consider the SEXIH107 and 634SR. They looked ridiculous on me when I tried them on and I couldn't visualize what they'd look like upon shrinking...so I passed.
I love my new black IH cyclists and I promise to post pics up soon !

Till, I do own a bike. You are right…maybe it's high time I start riding it now ! Actually, I have this fantasy of riding a motorcycle. This woman at work -- a mom in her 40s -- is getting a motorcycle. I can't believe it ! She's going through the pre-requisite training/lessons on the weekends at the moment [and you bet, I told her all about Iron Heart protective clothing]. The real reason I don't bike is because The Bay Area (especially in pedestrian-rampant areas like various hoods in San Francisco, Berkeley and Oakland) is notorious for disrespecting bikers and basically, hitting them and running. It happens all the time. It's not death that I fear (actually, this is a strange philosophy, but for me – death would be welcome, I don't fear death), but rather -- it's emerging brain-damaged and/or crippled. A friend of mine got into a VERY serious biking accident just recently (yes, in The Bay Area), and it was a hit-n-run -- they still haven't caught the asshole. While this friend is recovering well, he was severely injured and will likely never be "good as new" again. Since I have no problem keeping myself busy and am extremely active otherwise (yoga, walking, running), I'm thinking...why bother picking up another activity -- especially when it can ruin your life ?
That said, I totally get these SEXIH03BKs. The top-block cut is extremely favorable to a cyclist, or anyone who spends a lot of time sitting on their ass -- I can't really explain it in words, but though I got them TIGHT, they are more comfortable now than my now looser IH 301S or 9301 Slims. I LOVE the ultra-narrow leg openings -- now that is HOT ! I desperately wanted to buy the one remaining pair of W28 indigo (SEXIH03) but I couldn't afford it financially. But seriously...those fuckers are tiny. Unless someone from Cirque Du Soleil pops into Self Edge, SF during The Holidays, I'm certain that the indigo are also MINE when I can afford them -- say in February or so next year. Derek told me that this is the last run on the cyclists...no more will ever be made !

Oh yea, Seul, I hear you about the 'odd features'. There's nothing traditional or "old school" about them, except the IH quality and construction. The higher rise in the back, the farther-out spacing on the rear pockets, the large unusual rear pocket size, extra belt-loops in the ear, little roomier thigh going ultra narrow down to the ankle…they may look downright clownish on the wrong body type. But for someone who is lean and small-built, these cyclists will look awesome on you. Most avid cyclists are built like me...rather on the lean side, smallish ass, but with muscular thighs . I don't see many stocky or chubby cyclists lumbering around The Bay Area. If you're serious about cycling in The Bay Area and haven't been maimed by an auto injury yet, you're probably in pretty fucking good shape (lean and mean) -- San Francisco hills are murder !
I will post pics up soon ! Trust me, they look fucking awesome on me !

Um Giles….I will never have that problem obviously. And I got no plans of becoming another Chaz Bono...:)

Gotta give credit to Derek and Ginno, who work at Self Edge in San Francisco. Derek sold me my very first pair of IH 634S 3.5 years ago – and PS, I was 12 Lbs heavier then. I couldn't wear the skinny IH W28 I'm wearing today, back then [Besides, the skinny versions of IH weren't even available back then]. I've always been super fit (yoga and running) but I lost 12 lbs just by changing my diet – very light dinner, basically. I eat granola and low fat milk (or yogurt) for dinner. Oh yeah -- NO JUNK FOOD ! But Derek and Ginno deserve a lot of credit for helping me buy IH jeans which fit great. OK, don't get too excited but Derek and Ginno are quite accustomed to seeing me run around SESF in my undies, as I try on different pairs of jeans.

Self Edge is located on Valencia Street, in The Mission neighborhood of San Francisco. Here are some sights very close to Self Edge, San Francisco. I was there today with my Mom and of course, we had to have lunch at our favorite South Indian restaurant – Dosa. That dude I'm pictured with is the ultra hip "Todd", the host of Dosa in The Mission:
Check out http://www.dosasf.com/
I think Todd totally embodies the vibe of The Mission. If I weren't living in Oakland, I'd be living in The Mission fo' sho' ! -
I like the concept of this thread. Will post flicks of SE NY when i go do my pick-up in a few weeks
