Was initially thinking about grabbing the 666 OD slub, but now I think the 21oz OD might be better since colder months are coming soon. I guess the measurements will ultimately be the deciding factor.
-
I just ordered these as my first pair. I measured my other jeans that fit. They are 36”, I went with 34 in these because it says 35.5 and says will stretch an inch. The 35 tag says 36.5” and with stretch would be too much. But everything I’m reading is to size up with these. Which means I should have gone with the 35. Hope they work.

@stuffedcrust trust the measurements, always. have you compared the other measurements to your existing pair? waist size is a strong indicator, but the rear and front rise determine where they will actually sit on your hip.

@tody
Thanks! The front rise is the same as one pair I like, rear rise about an inch shorter. rest of the measurements are equal or bigger on these. Hoping for the best! -
I have a pair of 666 overdyed black bought 7 years ago and they have a high rise with 4 fly buttons. Are these not made anymore?

Would these jeans be a good starting point for someone getting into IH jeans for a first time pair? I usually wear Bravestar Selvage slim straight

@johnfredmurray there's a couple of things to consider here. Firstly, I would recommend reading this post by @goosehd in which he explains his approach to sizing. The example given is for a shirt, but the same principle applies to other garments as well. Ideally, take a piece of clothing that fits you well, in your case your Bravestar jeans, and measure it the Iron Heart way. This will help you compare to the IH cuts.
Secondly, familiarize yourself with those different cuts. A more detailed comparison can be found here.
Once you have settled on a cut your final decision is the denim. These are the current denims, with the exception of UHR, which cannot be made anymore in its current iteration.
My first pair of Iron Heart was the regular, i.e. non-OD, 21oz 666. Personally, that was a pretty significant step-up in terms of weight and heft, but it broke in fairly quickly. I can't comment on any OD denim trousers as I haven't owned any, but the general consensus seems to be that they are softer from the get-go than the regular 21oz.
If you are looking for a lighter alternative I would recommend from personal experience the 18oz vintage or the 17oz natural.
And finally, if you have any questions drop the guys at IHUK an email at shop@ironheart.co.uk. They will be able to help you with any specific questions to help you decide on your first pair of IH.

@Tago-Mago, thank you for all the information. I really appreciate all the resources mentioned. I've got some research and measuring to do.
