WESCO

I always assumed that Wesco’s are a bit out of my price range - one of those things I’d admire from afar and only maybe dip my toe in a few years time. This morning out of curiosity I built some Romeo’s on their online builder and the cost is MUCH lower than I expected. Crazy stuff, basically like Red Wing prices.
I have a few Q’s about ordering thru IH:
If sometime in the future I were to place an order through IHUK, does the price stay fairly constant between IHUK and the Wesco site, allowing exchange rates etc? Or will the boots be subject to hefty import taxes?
Are you guys able to provide a rough price for a basic build so I have a ball park idea before deciding to take the plunge?Yeah, the boot builder will give you a misleading picture I’m afraid, precisely because of import duty, taxes etc.
I always take a screen dump of the build details and send it to IHUK, they can get you a quote based on that. Still shouldn’t be earth shattering.

The overall premium istn too bad. Best man to get in touch with from IHUK is @chesson. He will not only be able to tell you prices but is more than helpful with any questions you may have in the build. I ordered two pairs of boots through him and he has always been very responsive and helpful.

Does the price stay fairly constant between IHUK and the Wesco site,
No because we have to ship, pay import taxes etc. etc. etc. Just the same as IH being more expensive in The West than in Japan. Or for that matter, anything British-made sold in Japan. That is an almost immutable law of international trade. But if you buy from us, what we say is what you will pay, we take the shipping, VAT, Duty lottery away from you.
Are you guys able to provide a rough price for a basic build so I have a ballpark idea before deciding to take the plunge?
We can give you an exact price if you tell us what we want. Email shop@ironheart.co.uk

The double mids will require some dedication to break in..
My first pair of Wesco's were double mids and I have the IHWE-5 (https://www.ironheart.co.uk/extinct/ihwe-build-5.html) too, so I'm not that bothered. And I do love them. Both my lack of concern for the break in and my appreciation of the aesthetic probably goes back to me wearing these for most of my late teens/early twenties:

My custom Hendrik’s finally arrived and were definitely worth the wait.
Black horsehide leather // toe cap // 705 sole // standard heel
I love how the brown thread upper stitching contrasts with the black leather

great boot @Kirk - that's a great make-up!

Thanks @Dmart . Yes as @neph93 and @Giles stated this is their standard heel.
I remember when Wesco released the 100th anniversary work boot 8106 and my thinking, at the time, was ‘who would wear a heel on a boot that high?!?!’ Couple years later and I don’t think I’d consider a lower heel or taking a lower lift on a Wesco. It’s kinda like my evolution with IH denim. Didn’t like the 634 cut initially and thought the 555 was for me. Now I mainly prefer wider cuts.
I'd this the regular heel height?
Looks like it.
Grand pair of boots @Kirk I love the look of single midsoles on the #705. The double the sole at the front but have that beautiful curve into the heel block. I have it on my custom burlap Boss and it is elegant and badass at the same time.
I thought the single midsole with 705 on the Hendrik was perfect and a nice profile for this type of boot.
Thanks @Appfaff. I was going for a clean, classic look. The Hendrik is already a great boot.
