tell you what's shit at the moment . . . sometimes work gets so that your days are all disjointed and f-cked up - I am seriously not in tune to what day, or even to what time of day I'm at

At work, some 45 year old lady asked me where she could find eggplants… So, I ignore the fact that she was standing RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM, and pointed at them (measured distance from her nose to the crate: approx 1.3 m).
"Oooh ok thanks... So uuhh... You've only got them in this colour?.. You don't have green ones?.. They're all black?.."
"No, they're all purple... And no: no such thing as a green eggplant as far as I know..."
"Oh ok... It's just that I never had one of these before..."HOW CAN YOU BE FORTY FUCKING 5 YEARS OLD AND NOT KNOW HOW AN EGGPLANT LOOKS LIKE?.. LET ALONE THE FACT THAT SHE NEVER HAD IT BEFORE...

some people would call that an aubergine and whatever you call it, you do get them is all sorts of colours - white, green, orange, purple, black. we usually see that colour because it's probably the most widely cultivated
