I generally give a first hotsoak with a piece of wood  for minimal shrinkage at the waist. I'm not sure if it is the right way but it works just fine with my Samurai.

Hmm.. Stuck between 30 and 31. My true waist is 31 but skinny legs syndrome means 31 in indigo might be to big at the hem, how much will it shrink down to?. A 30 in busters fits like a charm but wouldn't want hem any bigger really.

I've got the 666S and Beatle Buster (both in a Tag Size 34) and I can tell you that the Beatle Buster is definately tighter in the waist and thigh… It's the first time I've ever had to lie down to button up a pair of jeans!

For what it's worth - I just re measured BB and 666 in tagged size 31. Both have been worn for a couple of days and stretched out some

              BB Size 31    666 Size 31
              Waist 15.5                15.5
              Thigh 11.0                10.5
              LO      8.0                  7.5

I presume the indigo will shrink down to the over dyed measurements with a hot soak?

I should add that I only soaked my 666S in cold water for 2 hrs and when I tried both pairs on brand new I couldn't button up the BB but they are stretching as I type.

I have to say this pair really have charaters. The denim ist not like any other Ih denim, it's more crisp and rough. My Gf really loves this kind of denim.

Here are some pre-soaking fit pics.

                        Warm soaked for 2 hours

                        Here are some post-soaking pics

                        Enjoy 😉

Inseam hemed to 32. It turned out a little during the soaking, but i think i fixed it well ::)

the heming is well done. Thanks Giles 🙂
why this turned out, i assume it is related to the unique character of the denim, if u want to hem them, then u should not soak it too long and too hot (think i might soak them too hard). hope this helps.  🙂

G to avoid that from ever happening, have the turn long enough so it's doubles back again
stopping before the the new stitching. that way you're still sewing though 3 layers and i find it gives a much pronounced roping too.

Hi Giles! I really don't think it's ur fault. I checked the chainstitching before i soaked them, it was alright, i didn't find anything wrong. Besides it's nothing to me, it's only part of the story of a pair of damn good jeans. Anyway i still think that the better way to hem a pair of jeans which r heavier than 17 oz is to hem them after soaking them if it's possible. As i know the turning out thing happens more often with heavier jeans. At least i heard about this more than 3 times from my friends.

Giles (or anyone else, for that matter) could you expand at all on what makes this denim unique / gives it "so much character?" You stated you asked Haraki to make this denim specifically for this jean; I'm sure you asked for more than just an 18 oz. slubby denim... as a connoisseur of fine things I'm interested to hear how it's different than IH's standard 21 oz. denim.
