*random question for those in the uk: how does MOT work with motorcycles?
mainly do they check exhausts? I'm wondering if many aftermarket exhausts are legally approve and if inspection is yearly, for those running non legal aftermarket, do people swap them out just for the inspection?*
It all depends if you have a 'friendly' MOT Tester you can go to. Strictly speaking pipes need to be BS approved or stiffed for highway use to go through the MOT, and you certainly don't want the 'Not for highway use' stamp showing your aftermarket pipe if possible.
I have a few 'noisy' bikes (old and new) and have no real problems with getting an MOT with my usual tester

Around here in Ontario, the rule is stupid people win stupid prizes…You will be fine if you have aftermarket pipes (I do on the Harley) if you use common sense when riding, not rev your engine at every stop light, and try not to be a general hooligan around people.
If you want to be an idiot and do any of those things, you’re guaranteed to be pulled over and your sound levels checked.
The results are often not very favourable to the rider…

@louisbosco it is. The bike was begging for more throttle. How quick I was at „loosing the license speed“. But keep in mind, I come from V twins, so basically every non chopper is stupidly fast for me, but this thing was just insane. And the handling through corners was amazing. I usually scrap my floorboards in every roundabout, with this thing you can surf on your knees.

@Baba-san fair, I've never had to go for yearly inspections in australia, you could almost have whatever exhaust you want and without the rider doing something stupid and attracting attention, mostly you'll be fine.
however right here in Singapore, they have yearly inspections like MOT in the uk. and they do test the exhaust standards too. wondering if I should go for the non legal pipes and swap them out every inspection from my 3rd year of ownership onwards.. stupid euro5 standards makes it harder to find road legal exhausts.

@Dmart you should have a go on the v4s to compare them both!! with that said, even the v2 is pretty crazy for what it's worth. I never thought I needed tech or that power coming from a 2012 speed triple. but that first ride back from the dealership showed me how far motorcycle technology had advanced..
I mean, I bought mine without test riding it because they only had 2 new ones in their WH and didn't have a demo at that stage..
2months on, I'm so reluctant to get off every time I reach my destination.. -
@louisbosco they told me stop by at their shop and test ride it. As much as I want to do it, I know I would lacking the discipline to not buy it
It is however a completely different way of riding a motorcycle, you can’t compare it to a Harley. It would be a good mix up in the garage though.
BTW: I rode the Ducati scrambler nightshift as well. Fun, light and agile bike. Really enjoyed it too. -

I still believe my 2014 BMW R1200R is lightning quick and monster torquey!!! No spare change in pocket for m’cycles left after our IH habits here.

@Dmart different bikes for different days of the week
you have the harleys for the weekend cruise and the Streetfighter to carve canyonsI initially set out looking for a comfort long distance bike. initial requirements was cruise control, space for luggage. GS, tiger, you name it.
plan went out the window and ended up with a v4s which is no different to me speed triple 1050. single seater, no fuel gauge, no cruise control
