ok - so I've posted a few message to catch up on this thread . . . but honestly, it's like a feckin' cage of monkeys sometimes . . . you turn your back for a minute and all holy hell breaks out!!!
so - DS here's the (authentic) recipe for haggis
1 sheep's stomach or ox secum, cleaned and thoroughly, scalded, turned inside out and soaked overnight in cold salted water; heart and lungs of one lamb; 450g/1lb beef or lamb trimmings, fat and lean; 2 onions, finely chopped; 225g/8oz oatmeal; 1 tbsp salt; 1 tsp ground black pepper; and these are optional - 1 tsp ground dried coriander; 1 tsp mace;
1 tsp nutmeg; water, enough to cook the haggis; stock from lungs and trimmingsfrankly, the majority of haggis I've eaten tastes shit - I'm generally much happier with a cheese sandwich; BUT when it's made well it really is very good . . .
which leads me onto the next bit - if you're haulin' yer ass onto a flight to come over here, I am most definitely taking you to Stravaigin to have the best haggis you'll eat - and a few buckets of alcohol to dull the senses now you know what's in it. the invite is open to hectic too (there's a choice selection of whisky to drown it in if you have to) but i'm considering my position with the crazy mofo belgian who is bad enough without a drink ::)

well she is running for a full hour with boxers and other huskies at the dog park which usually works out pretty well for me!
