I'm going to have to give this some thought and come back. Cool thread Mega!

You appear to be approaching a T-Intersection, do you wish to turn left or right?

Let's bring this one to the top

With the US having riots recently, this might be a good topic for folks to think about

So the scenario is: you are at work and you need to abandon your car at work. You need to walk home and you'll need to walk past potential rioting. What do you bring with you to get home?

Remember, the goal here is to get home, not to kill rioters in the process, though you may need to defend yourself.

I like this potential scenario better since it's more realistic

                                    For me:
PF Flyers-light, comfortable, will certainly last me the trip
Jeans-I always wear jeans to work, so a no brainer
Shirt-whatever I'm already wearing, no need to complicate this
Body Armor-3A protection, plate armor is too heavy, and I'm trying to avoid anyone shooting at me with a rifle altogether (plus I'm kind of surprised nobody thought of this already, as body armor is easily accessible, at least here in the states)
                                    Fleece-packs easy, light, dries fast
Emergency poncho-getting wet causes a lot of problems, mostly that water will weigh me down
                                    Fleece beanie

                                    Backpack to hold

                                    Emergency blankets
Emergency water packs (I have these in these little Capri sun packets)
                                    Flashlight
                                    Pocket knife
                                    Zippo firestarting kit
                                    Lifeboat rations
                                    First Aid Kit
                                    Alcohol based sanitizer
Small pack of tissues to use as toilet paper
IFAK in case I do get shot (includes quick clot, tourniquet, Israeli bandage or H bandage)
                                    Cyalume glow sticks
Duct Tape (because if duct tape isn't the answer, you're asking the wrong question)
A map of my immediate area
A back up battery for my cell phone
One extra set of batteries for my flashlight

I'd throw a 9mm pistol in here as well if I have the option. It would be concealed, as I don't want to draw unnecessary attention to me

The goal here is to get home safely and quickly, so we're not talking about having an outfit that will last indefinitely. We are not talking about living out in the wilderness indefinitely. Weight savings are considerably more valuable than durability.

If anyone wants to do a little research on this, they're called "get home bags"

I also keep backpacks the dogs can wear to get home if the four of us need to walk home. They're a lot less involved

Food (vacuum sealed dry food and a can of wet)
                                    Water (same pouches as above)
Canine first aid kit with pantyhose (endless uses for pantyhose when dressing a dogs wounds)
                                    Extra leash
                                    Mylar blankets

Thought this topic would be stimulating

I know violence is not the answer, I got it wrong on purpose

This is something I actually consider, not necessarily riots but some kind of event which would force me to walk back to my family. Obviously the risk of being shot is greatly reduced here in the UK, but the risk of being stabbed or threatened with a dirty syringe is probably higher, so…...

The Case knife is illegal the the Swiss Army Knife is not?!?

Oh, it might be handy to know what is the distance to home in your scenario. Mine is 25 miles, more if I have to detour to avoid rioting

Btw, the IFAK kit is useful for knife wounds too. Might want to consider it. You'll have to get training to use it though. It's to treat major blood loss, obstructed airway, and tension pneumo.

Hell, it would be useful to have and know how to use if there is a car accident.

In the US, fire departments occasionally have training for a very reasonable price
