Looks great and slim cadence! Try unbuttoning  the cuffs, it usually makes the arms look longer.. Congrats on a great looking jacket!

I've actually left them open on a few wears and liked it. I button the sleeves mostly because I feel that is how that jacket wants to be worn. My jacket has feelings 🙂

So I haven't owned a denim jacket since I was in elementary school, but I tried this one on and could see how I could be into it. I'm wearing it over a IHSH-92 (copped) and a t-shirt. The shoulders seem like they might still be wide after a soak, but the other dimensions seem like they would be okay. I'm trying to un-scrawny myself, so it might work out okay. Fit thoughts?

This is unrelated to your fit and an unpopular opinion probably, but modified type 3's look so weird to me. Even if they fit correctly they just looked oversized and like a chore coat….I feel like the sheer simplicity of the type 3 doesn't jive well as a regular fitting coat.

Try on a normal type 3 and make sure that you dig the longer look before you buy that because I have a modified type 3 that looks weird to me now, so I'm going to have to sell at a loss and pick up a classic one. Bummer.

I agree, to an extent Ben. Im 6'4" and love that some of these typeIII's are made longer. Im not into showing my bellybutton lol. But i feel that if you are under 6' or dont have an unusually long torso that the mod III's can def look funny. If your not a tall dude, stick with a reg typeIII guys. If it covers part of your back pockets then its too long. IMO should only cover your belt

Definitely feel agree with pillow pants. Personally, I think Occupant should look into the standard fit like Ben suggested.

I hadn't thought of it as too long, but I wasn't keeping the "short Type III" aesthetic in mind. I'm 6'6" so I was thinking that the extra length wouldn't be a bad thing, but now I'm wondering.

I'm biased as I love this jacket, but I think the fit looks great.  Wearing mine today with the 92 as well.

Occupant I think it looks ok. If you feel like the shoulders are too wide or the sleeves a little long, it looks like you could fit into a size down. Even with a hot soak, the shoulders on my jacket only shrunk about .5"… You could size down one and only do a cold soak? I guess it comes down to which kind of fit you are looking for, really slim or more relaxed...

Oh wow! Didn't realize you were so tall. You could definitely make it work with a size smaller or by shrinking the jacket some. I'm guessing smaller tho because the shoulders.

Imo the type 3 is a classic simple jacket. No whistles or even side pockets, and as such it suits a very unobtrusive and short fit. The modified almost looks like a jacket that was just supersized. I didn't realize that you were 6'6" but I think you could rock the short version no prob. As always though, get what you feel comfortable in

Occupant, I would go a size down and then soak it so it will shrink a little more.

In general I find a Type III without side pockets more appealing visually but impractical to wear. When I do wear one I don't know where to put my hands. The proportions of the IH black duck Type III are pretty much perfect, IMO.

The classic look is awesome but I wanted this one mostly because of the length. I'm not crazy tall at 6'1" but my shirts stick out too much for my taste to wear a standard type III and I refuse to tuck them in and risk looking ridiculous as soon as the jacket opens or comes off. As for the pockets, I don't think they hurt the look for me and I love that it gives me a spot for the hands. The jackets I've worn without pockets has me always trying to find pockets and awkwardly realizing I have no wear to put my hands.

Agreed.  I owned one of the longer SEXIH jackets, which seem great in theory, but are hard to pull off unless you're tall.  I think the type-III is actually the hardest to make work with extra length due to the chest pocket placement.  The jacket just looks off w/ extra fabric due to how high the pockets are, whereas type IIs are generally a little longer in the body but look more balanced because of the lower pockets.

My 2 cents: I’m a slim 6’1 and I absolutely love the classic shorter type III but the IH version doesn’t doesn't fit me very well. Shoulders, chest and biceps are OK (I would have liked to take out 0.75 inch all around) but the waist and opening are way too large and look like the bottom half of the jacket is floating around my waist, which I’m not crazy fond of.. It gets better when I tighten the waistband flaps but is it’d not as clean fitting as I’d want it.. If I go one size smaller, legnth and sleeves will be too short and kill the fit for me (Assessment based on the brown 2526j which still is one of my favorite IH pieces..)

Only solution is to go with the longer version where I can size down and still have some useable length. The SExIH22 sizing is slightly weird though.. My perfect size would have been between the 38 and 40 (large gap between the two) so I copped the 40 and gave it a triple hot soak to maximize shrinking (got 1 solid inch all around). I would have liked to get rid of one more inch in length but overall I'm very happy with the fit 🙂 Hopefully, it'll remain as good when the denim softens up…

Some of the classic jackets (denim and leather) look best if worn just a tad over the belt line.
But in the end it is what it is, and pretty much dudes seem to like.

Dunno where to stick your hands in? Try the the frontpockets of your jeans 🙂
