Just been into H&M and spotted these horrible Grenson, Trickers and McNairy rip off boots and shoes. They felt like the cheapest, most lightweight pieces of footwear that it has ever been my misfortune to handle, but they do show that the man in the streets tastes are catching up with the man (and woman) on the exclusive clothing/ fashion forums.

Made in England, clothed in Japan, fed in America and drunk in Belgium !

One look at the leather on the top boot and you know these are cheap as they look like they are made of plastic.

They were indeed cheap plastic, and cost £35 - £45 per pair.

Not to hate on people who can't afford the real deal, but even 50-60 USD for one of those is a crime… Inflation must be taking it's toll or this is just an example of the 'rip-off Britain' thing I've heard so much about.

I was going to take some pictures of the jackets too, lots of military repro looking stuff, flying jackets, plaid cruisers etc…

Some of the stuff looked quite cool, but when you actually touched them they felt so cheap. I doubt they would have lasted a month.

well why dont you just bring them to a leathermaker? he can easily remove/cut the strap-part and re-sew the rest so that youll have the exact same boot but with a few inches less in hight…

I have some experience with Frye boots. I had a pair that were really poorly constructed, and were falling apart after just a few wears. My wife had a pair with a shaft adjustment strap that snapped in half one day. It was two pieces of cheap leather sewn together. Not what I would expect from $400 boots. No thank you.  I'll take my money and invest in some Wesco's any day before I ever spend another dollar on Frye.

I have some old school made in USA frye boots, they are tough as nails despite the leather having some holes from dropping the bike when I was still learning.

Tried a pair of the more recent ones on and they just felt bad.
