Of course.  Much bigger.  Magic beans.  But not a 38 as I know a size 38 waist to be.  When wearing them they came up like a 36 and now I imagine them to shrink down to a 35.5.  Roll on training.

We measure that way because that is how all Japanese jeans companies measure them, it is the only accurate way of so doing.

There has been some confusion.  I wouldn't say its the only way of measuring them accurately nor would I say that is how we ie us outside Japan measure trousers ever, and when you post up jeans for sale at size 36 we all know what that means and that has nothing to do with measuring trousers sideways.  Anyhow let's see what comes out of the washing machine.

We do not know what a size 36 jean means.  What a jean is tagged at is often complete myth (I have seen a new tagged size Diesel measure actual 37).  Levi's are notorious for vanity tagging jeans.  We try to keep our tag size as close to actual as possible, bet we still get unexpected variance.

It is for these reasons that we post the measurements of every pair of trouser we sell and provide a link to what the Japanese (at least) think is the most accurate way to do it.  Haraki and Tom are pattern makers by trade, this is the way they do it

Okay an update, they have shrunk about half inch from what I would have called a 37 to a 36 spot on.  I am going to get them hemmed and will post pics.  I love the colour, dark buff, or light bronze, with a soft metallic sheen.  The cut is very good too, rear rise is just high enough as I like it; makes the legs look long and buries the muffins.  Finish as always is second to none.  Fabric is interesting; densely woven but quite lightweight, would make a great shirt too.  More anon.

                    giles,

Speaking of a shirt being a great idea - how about a pair of chino's made out of the material that the IHSH-69 is made from.

That's really one of my favorites, soft and strong.

That material would make amazing pants, I'd love to see a pair in weathered green as well! Selvedge too!

These are on my radar, but just waiting to see more fit pics as the measurements have me second guessing how they'll work for me.

                    cheers

                    jesse

Cold mercerised to retain and enhance the cottons natural sheen.

Raw, so expect between 0.5 and 1" shrinkage in the waist and about 1.25" in the inseam.  On our shrink test we got 0.5" in the waist and 1" in the inseam, but I believe there is a tad more shrinkage to be expected…

                        29-40

                        USD275

These will go up on the site tomorrow.  I'm hosed.  If you want to buy a pair in the interim, drop me a PM…

ach these are superb how can they be sold out the minute i get the email?

good work all will have to pay closer attention to the forums.

No, because the specifications of the denim have not changed just the geographical location.  This change happened years ago and no one (including me) noticed.
