Nanamica is a brand that I've looked at for a couple of years, but I've always thought they are out of my size league like so many other japanese brands (ie not big enough sizes, like Visvim for example) and also quite often out of my price league. I had the chance to see some of their products IRL in Japan and in Copenhagen a few years back and was very impressed with their attention to detail and overall quality feel.

Well, yesterday I found out that a local shop carries Nanamica and tried on a Gore-tex duffel in red and realised they must have changed their sizing because an XL fit me perfectly. The particular model I tried on wasn't to my liking (I'm looking for something similar to a basic 60/40 parka) but the color and the fabric was amazing so I ended up Googleing stuff and bumped into this piece..

It's on it's way to me and we'll see how it turns out 🙂

i have this jacket and the summer version in yellow.  its a superb coat.  fit is snug on a medium i can wear a sweat and shirt underneath but would struggle with a chunky cardigan or any type of downliner - i just got an eddie bauer 1936 skyliner and its too tight even just over a t-shirt with a very light down fill.

but still its perfect spring/fall rain wear and absolutely beautifully made with some lovely subtle detailing like the cord placket; collar and and pocket flap lining.

its a perfect modern take on a vintage inspiration i think nanamica will be collected as a 2010s vintage piece in years to come.

has anyone tried any of their shirts?  i've missed out on a few corkers in the superdenim sale and wonder if they are as lovely as their jackets?

jii - i think the parka you tried is in a permaloft or some other modern filler.  was it too lightweight in feel for your tastes?  i've seen one on sale and was just curious…. 🙂

The one I tried on was this one. Too weird for me but the quality was awesome. I want a lighter weight jacket for spring/fall - I want to be able to layer with a sweatshirt or a flannel, nothing thicker.

So I received this but sadly it was a bit too small in the shoulders so had to return it. The quality was very nice and so was the jacket overall, but it is what it is.

Hi.  Just wanted to add my 'two cents'.  I have this red(L) colorway, and the black(L) one.  Nanamica, for me, always runs a size small; Japanese sizing.  (I do have a red(M) Primaloft duffle coat of theirs that has more 'American' sizing, but that could be due to the nature of the jacket; designed for winter, with the expectation of wearing a sweater underneath.)  I love these.  The newer Cruisers have evolved since this 2012, but not for the better.  The biggest difference is the snap placket.  The newer versions have button plackets, and I'm not a fan.  ^o,o^
