Viberg - January 2013 Special Orders
-
At the end of January 2013, I will be placing orders on Viberg for a series of specials. Within reason, you can have what you want, but the one sticking point is that Viberg now require retailers to place an order for a minimum of 4 pairs of the same design/make-up.
You may have, in your mind, the ideal boot for you. Please use this thread to discuss what you are after and see if you can get at least 3 other people to share your dream.
Personally, I'm in for a pair of Engineer boots in Merlot. If anyone else is into that idea, shout up.
To cut down on (my) bandwidth, please can I ask the initiator of an idea to run with the idea and corralling his troops….

I was thinking of getting a pair of Hikers in the brown wax flesh.
With the ridiculous Portland sole, used on the IHVB-02 and IHVB-03.
I'd be inclined to leave out the toe box and insulated lining, which would result in a boot like the Four Horsemen City Hiker.
But Joesaintjohn was thinking of a square toe build, like the Chucs Dive And Mountain Shop Hiker. Which is also very cool, but perhaps not compatible with a deconstructed boot.
Anyone else interested?
Edit: 9th December @ 17:00 I've put a query into Viberg to see if they can make small tweaks to the boots for toe style and so forth. If not, they'll have the square toe and no Thinsulate insulation, unless I get enough interest for both options.
Joe and I both agree on the Red Dog Oil Tan leather for the liner and cuff on the boot.

Giles, if four people wanted to do the exact same build, but with different soles, is that a possibility? I know in SF that was the one thing that could be altered for the boondockers. If so, I want the exact same build as the 4HS and Tate/Yoko black buffalo rough out service boot with the same sole/heel as the 4HS. I'll be the leader of this pack if anyone wants in. Here's pics of the 4HS with cats paw sole heel, and the Tate and Yoko with the black danite.

If some people want to work on a build with me, send me a PM, but I want something simple, all one color (brown), one type of leather, service boot, low profile (but not leather) sole.
Something sorta like this:
-
I think their new rule may make ordering through our favorite retailer virtually impossible…if two people can't hardly decide on where to eat dinner, how are 4 people supposed to decide on "custom" boots!

That's why I believe it would be better if there was a unanimous decision put forth on a singular model representative of the forum. (I'd also like to see something similar put into action with a flannel and jean.)

Graeme, I really love this toe.

I know.
Current spec is for the square toe, but no Thinsulate lining. (If you're not hiking in subzero temperatures then I don't think it's needed.) But I'm open to debate.
As for ordering through Giles, for those of us in the EU it means that shipping, import duties and VAT will be handled collectively. I think that it might work out slightly cheaper than going direct.

I have two favorites:
-Scout in full ice mocha cxl with a christy sole, same like the Superdenim modell
-Hiker or Pachena Bay in a dark brown leather (waxflesh or harness), Portland or another profile sole -
^^
Chuck, me and Graeme are trying to get a wax flesh hiker/Portland sole combo going with a square toe. Hop on board!!! -
What´s the difference in the fit between the normal and the square toebox?

Vibram do a bunch of ridiculous sole units that look like they were developed by Tonka.
Vibram Bifida (has side mouldings, which might preclude it from being used on a traditional boot)
