@GingerMagician Seems like a lot of people flick through IWC's after a few years, short of the IWC forum, not a lot of keepers. Hoping to keep this, as they do age wonderfully!

@Anesthetist always love the simplicity of Nomos' face. Nice strap too.

@Snowy I missed your post of the Ingenieur the other day. Probably because I was checking the forum from China and images weren't showing up.

Nice looking piece, and glad you got a bargain. 🙂

SIHH has just opened in Switzerland, and it's the first of the two big watch shows. I'm currently liking the new version of the Jaeger LeCoultre Extreme Lab 2, which is probably the most over-engineered watch you can get.

Thanks for your help on that @Graeme. With the Franc going crazy as well as the AUD, I think I got in at a very good time.

I want to pick up a new strap for my Dad's birthday to go on what was my Granddad's Omega. The current strap is pretty tatty and not particularly good so I thought it would be good to get a decent strap to complement it.

I've been looking at the Uniform Wares brown calf leather strap which I think could work. I just wondered if anyone had any recommendations. I'm in London based so would prefer UK based stores, but feel free to post up anyone else that might be worth checking out.

                Cheers

@footandmaff Tender sell a couple of straps at the Trestle Shop, but they're less dressy than what I suspect you're looking for. Equus Leather make some fantastic looking ones, but they're very expensive. However if you check out their Facebook page then there are normally discount codes.

SIHH news: IWC have released a new Portuguese Eight Day with a handwound movement, which I rather like. More at aBlogToWatch.

                          There's a monster Panerai Mare Nostrum, with a 52 mm case! :o

But the coolest thing so far has to be the A. Lange und Söhne Zeitwerk Minute Repeater. Only €440K, so it would put a bit of a dent in the denim shopping…

Thought that some of you would enjoy a shot from my weekend watch browsing in Mong Kok, Hong Kong:

It's amazing seeing pieces like a 5513 and red line 1680 just in the heap like this. In my opinion, it's how those rugged watches were supposed to be treated!

I've come to the conclusion that people fixate on watch size far too much. Until recently I was wearing a 44 or 45 mm Breitling, which is at the bigger end of the scale. I'm now wearing a 35 mm Tender, which is about as small as men's watches get. Both look OK on my wrist, and, as a former member of the Big Boned Brotherhood, I'm pretty large.

If the lugs of the IWC aren't wider than the top of your wrist then you'll be fine. It'll just seem odd for the first few days until your perceptions adjust.

OK, I've probably got to hand in my WIS card at this point, but stepping outside of your comfort zone by a few millimetres isn't going to hurt. 😃
