Rainbow Country leather jackets
-
I didn’t find a topic about my favourite Japanese brand for leather jackets - Rainbow Country (or brand name California MFG. Co)…so I decided to open one. I will be very happy to meet and chat with fellow forum members who own or plan to get a Rainbow Country jacket.
I know it is not the most popular brand around (it cannot be compared to The Real McCoy’s, Freewheelers or Flat Head in terms of popularity) but the quality of the Rainbow Country jackets is extremely good. According to several sources, their jackets are made in the same factory as Freewheelers leather jackets.I am sharing below some shots of my 4 Rainbow Country jackets and I will be glad to share info, opinion and sources of information.
I want to explicitly say that I am not in any way related to the brand, I am not a seller or trade partner of the brand. I am just really happy with the quality and the fit of the jackets so I will be happy to find more people interested in RC jackets.Here are the photos:
- Rainbow Country Hercules in black (teacore dyed leather from Shinki Hikaku tannery)

- Hercules in seal brown colour (aniline dyed)

- Windward in oxblood colour

- Sports jacket (named by the store schichten has collaboration with RC for this one) in light brown colour

Thank you, @Giles !
The quality and the fit is excellent. Obviously, I am lucky enough so my measurements match perfectly with the measurements of size 42 of these jackets.
And yeah, again, the quality is outstanding! -
A few trips ago I tried a couple RC jackets on. Sometimes I think I should have come back with it as it fit pretty well and the styling was great. The leather felt a little brittle/thin to me and the zipper felt really tiny in comparison to the IH stuff or really any other jacket zipper I've had. This was me just being worried about things that I didnt know about, also never hearing about RC before then, so I made the "safe" decision and left it at the store despite going back to look at it a second day. Still have the photos from trying it on;

Perfect fit @pechelman . You should have got it.
It is not very easy to find brand new RC jackets - obviously the production capacity is not that big and probably this is one of the reasons why the brand is not so popular. -
Seeing all the awesome photos from @Cskarev with his RC over the last several
months made me grab a Hercules.

A very well done recreation of the classic Sears jacket.

Here is a recent photo of the RC Hercules in seal brown…beautiful jacket

@Cskarev Where do you buy from?
I’ve looked pretty closely at RC jackets (specifically the Hercules). It would be nice if they had a North America retailer. I know Duds by Del is selling them on line now. Waiting so see his measurements.
EDIT: your jackets do,look like they fit you to a “T”

@Brandrea thanks! All my RC jackets fit like they are made to measure. Size 42 works for me perfectly.
I have bought this particular jacket (Hercules in seal brown) from a member of The Fedora Lounge forum. But it was in almost like new condition. The black one is also from there.I got one from a Japanese retailer who is shipping worldwide (Avenue store). Great guy, very responsive on Instagram.
There are several other retailers (mainly from Japan) who are also offering RC jackets.
Del is the only one who acts like a representative of the brand in North America AFAIK. Nice guy, also big fan of RC jackets. -
@Cskarev Thanks for this.
I’ll see if I can figure this out through one of your recommendations. Appreciated!
