Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later and I guess I'll be the one to start the shitstorm…

How do you care for your denim?

If I'm wearing my jeans all week at work and play, I'll soak in a small bucket with Woolite Dark, and then wash out the soap by hand. I have a job where I'm in a myriad of environments, from smoked fish companies to peanut butter factories to hospitals and pacemaker manufacturers, so walking into the latter smelling like the former is not good, so I wash pretty much weekly

Once in awhile I'll do something stupid, like drink a pitcher of sangria and blow chunks on my jeans or chase my ex into the Pacific and get them filthy (no, it wasn't to drown her...I didn't have that foresight), and I'll chuck them in the washer with some Woolite Dark and wash them on their own. I do something stupid on a quarterly basis

I always air dry, right side out, because I find when they're stiff and dry after, if I flip them inside out they lose their stiffness.

      Your turn!!!

I know violence is not the answer, I got it wrong on purpose

I washed my jeans inside out, 40 degrees and the lowest spin in the washing machine. And recently I got these momotaro detergent from a denim store in Amsterdam, where I'm based right now.

I guess basically they're just a non-bleach washing powder and I don't understand every single thing written on the package :p

I spent most of my time in Antwerp and Utrecht.  I popped up to Amsterdam for the day to meet with one of my customers there.  I popped into http://www.290sqm.com/.  I'd love them to take Iron Heart.

I can only wear jeans nights and Fri-Sun, so I don't actually wash that often.  I wait until they start to smell or get something on them that I have to wash out.  When they do need a wash, it's usually a hot soak with some laundry detergent and then let them drip dry.  If they get really foul, they get a hot machine wash.

I wash(when needed) in cold or hand hot warm wash them by hand in the sink with pure soap flakes and rinsed, light spin inside out in the washing machine to remove the excess water and then hang to dry inside out. If the weather permits then they'll be line dried right after rinsing. Just for the record i do that with 90% of my clothing.

If your mother won't allow the jeans to be washed in the machine, you might want to think of the effect they have on any potential girlfriends. 😉

I don't really worry about "care" for my IH denim.  I have washed/dried each of my jeans from anywhere between 1-3 times, using a regular washing/drying machine setup and Tide detergent – HOT water/HOT tumble dry, inside out. My jeans take eons to show wear because I don't really do much in them except walk and sit (sometimes sleep).  I wear jeans 24x7, but don't do "rough" activities in them -- because I live a gentle lifestyle. As a side note, I'm not hung up on un-sanforized and selvedge...so, as long as the jeans look and feel great, I'm happy. I'm convinced that the IH jeans I own today will be good n' strong til I'm dead...whether I really want that or not, however,  is a different matter. Sometimes it's good for things to fall apart, so that you can justify buying new....however, IH shit just lasts too long -- especially if you're me. Maybe I should increase the wash/dry frequency of my jeans so that they'll become flimsy enough to justify buying new jeans -- but I think that's easier said than done with Iron Heart.

Depends on the season… I usually wash my jeans when I buy them, and then I wear them for months without washing them... I air them outside... In the winter when it's freezing that helps to kill the bacteria. In the summer I do the same... Just hang 'm out for a night. Nothing more... I think jeans like that...

I'm not really a 'smelly' person. I take care of myself and as a result none of my clothes ever smell bad. Although I only basically wash my undershirts...  ???

As I said before I do physical labour for a living. So I'm usually wearing them in a dirty depot, unloading trucks, doing other hard work; it gets a lot of action. I love that you can  basically throw these (my IHxSE07BKs that is) in the fire and they'd survive... They make my day to day job a lot more comfortable and enjoyable whilst looking hot as FUCK as well  😉

I so admire mechanically inclined people…those that can be toolsmiths, work with their hands, get dirty. I think that's a genetic gift and I simply do not have it.

I totally get you Simon. Except that my job is incredibly intellectually and analytically challenging. It exercises my brain, though admittedly – not my body at all.

Besides - tfar - maybe u should use more skin lotion. Washing ur jeans every 20 wears sounds like really a lot - but maybe the results will be interesting. Super light grey denim…

LOL on the skin lotion. I hardly ever use any. But I suspect most male jeans fanatics don't, either. In addition, we guys usually have hairy legs. So that increases the friction and thus the skin rub off.

On my "normal" blue jeans I usually wash them every 7-10 wears. Just going slower on the IH.

The thing with the Superblacks is that in principle I want them to stay nice and dark. That is not a big challenge because if ever they turn grey-ish I can simply dye them black. Not much to do wrong there. Or I could experiment a little and do a dark indigo overdye on a Superblack.

I actually really like grey denim. I just bought a pair of light grey 501s. Very cool pants. But my Superblacks should stay black. 😉

I like the friction marks on my IHxSE07Bks but not on the knees… Anything I can about that?.. Perhaps a dye of some kind?.. It's mainly my right knee as I rest on it a lot during work... I wash that area from time to time with a wwet washing cloth to get the dirt off, but of course I wear out the colour even more by doing so...
