^ that looks awesome Doug. how much do you apply? just spread around the patch? the back of the patch?
and after applying the olive oil, how long do you wait before you can use it? and, we don't need to sun tan it after applying olive oil? thanks!if I apply oil to my patches I always do it before I go to bed. i apply it with a sponge (just a little, not much!) then, after I wake up, I just put my jeans back on and done!…
so theres no need to sun tan them after oiling?
no…you only tan your natural leathers to darken them up! they don't need to get tanned at all actually!
thanks for answering. it certainly cleared my doubts.
cos I saw in some forums that people tan their red wings, leather belt and etc. so I was wondering the reason behind it and is that a must for all leather stuffs including our IH leather patch.
will try the olive oil tonight and see how it goes. thanks mate!

sometimes it´s easier if you don´t care too much about different things and just wear the shit out of everything you own…i don´t think that they´ve oiled their leather patches back then in the wild wild west
I'm just worried the leather might dry up and crack.

that is why you should oil when needed…don´t make it a big deal though! it´s simple as feck!…

This. Just treat your leather as you would a house plant. Feed it from time to time, keep it out of direct sun and watch it flourish.
I've been impressed with Obernauf's Heavy Duty LP which you can apply easily by hand on your boots, patches and belt. Giles sells it.

So, how often should I oil my leather patch?
i think it's almost the same thing as it is with soaking/washing a pair of jeans! so whenever you feel the urge to oil your patch…go ahead

Wait, when?

So, how often should I oil my leather patch?
Heh heh, you want to "oil" your "patch"…
