Forum Like Facility - A Work in Progress…..

I'm not a fan of rep systems, even if they're only meant positive. So i have to back Finns idea of liking the post only instead of counting rep for a member as a whole. (I take it as if the like system is meant to stay.) But maybe I just don't want things to change. Thanks for the work to the admins though.

I think only threads should be allowed to like to outline the popularity of threads. Do you guys agree? Giles, what do you think?

That's what I tried to say as well. Show results of amount of +'es in the post, don't display the total of +'es someone has been given in the forum profile. Only the poster can see which one of his posts are liked and by who…

Just throwing that out there btw; I'm grateful for this forum and all the hard work all mods and Peter put into this. My brain doesn't always work (rarely does), and I tend to "post from the hip", but y'all know I've got nowt but love for you!..

change that soft red heart to an Iron Heart.  otherwise the like system makes me want to perform since I am being "graded" for my posts 

*if it's one thing i am it's honest, a few other words come to mid as well, but i'll stick with honest

MM, we're working out how to change the heart, that is the one that comes a standard with the "like pack"…..

nah it shouldn't only be the thread, you can see what threads are popular & loved pretty easily, adding a like would be kind of redundant & making you  do a lot of work for nawt

I don't agree. I think this would be of minimal benefit.

Up to Giles what he wants this like thing to be. This forum is his baby. Do you want a gentler sufu-ish function? Basically what it seems like now.

Nice of you to say that Jaco, but I really don't look at it that way.  I'm the facilitator, this place can only be successful if you guys find it useful, informative and enjoyable.  So I'm all ears, and yes I do feck up and no I don't mind being told that I get things wrong….

Yeah I'm thinking more like I'd be using the like button for good WAYWT pics, funny posts,… Instead of making a complimentary remark, I'd just hit the Like button...

i dig the like function for sure, but don't think it should be anything different than clicking "like" on facebook.  harmless and fun.

Not much of a rep'er either.  The counter is sort of a popularity contest.  There have been a lot of times I've liked someone's photo or post, but can't bring myself to quote their post and say "awesome job!!" or whatever.  I've posted some pics and got some feedback from members, but I often don't return the favor.

Hence the reason why I posted "I wish this forum had a like or a +1 button" after looking at GHBK16's 666 XHS

Hmmmm, all of this sounds interesting.  I'll have to check it out when I get to a real computer, rather than reading about it on tapatalk.  I like tapatalk, but not being able to see post counts, avatars and other features is occasionally frustrating.
