@68degreesorless I’m a little late on the Jazz- Funk recs…but check out Dexter Wansel. Layer in a bit of disco and psychedelia and I find it to be pure bliss. Not to mention the mixing and pressing quality of the OG is incredible.

Sometimes the truly incredible stuff is right in front of you and oft ignored. Recently fell hard into a Steely Dan awakening!
Aja and Gaucho are widely heralded as studio and audiophile masterpieces. The first Japanese pressings take that work to the highest degree. Knew I had to have them.
NM/NM complete sets 1st Japan pressings.

Considerably lower quality pressing than marks Dan pickups up but love this album

@GraemeE there’s a really interesting story behind the sound quality issues SD had when recording that album. Apparently there was a huge fire where thousands of original analogue tapes were stored, including this one. When the tech came out that could fix the issue 30 years later, sadly the tapes were lost. Analogue Productions put out audiophile pressings of about 6-7 of the core SD albums. Unfortunate Katy Lied couldn’t get the same treatment.

Ashra - New Age Of Earth 1976.
A one man band at this time.
No sequencers used , just multitracking of tapes. More to read on Vinyl Writers.
