@68degreesorless excellent score
I have zero clue who any of these artists are (intended as the sincerest form of compliment)
-
@GraemeE I didn't either until a week or two ago. Been reading up on Latin/Peruvian tunes in prep for Lima record store crawling and (unsurprisingly) finding the music addictive. These are all from the touristy Miraflores area, new, and priced accordingly. Tomorrow I'm headed to the Quilca area near old town, which I think will be a little grungier and cheaper and dustier and better for older press digging.

@68degreesorless I have some close friends outside of Tingo Maria who live in dome type houses in the jungle
-
Well that is fking cool
-
@68degreesorless for sure - I am the much less cool friend who lives in the suburbs with a desk job and 4 kids.......

My wife and i are spending the week (kid free) at the coast to celebrate our 20th anniversary
These are today's finds between thrift stores and antique/vintage malls

( intentionally specifying that this one was released and more importantly titled in the 1950s)
Disclaimer from a later re-issue :
"The liner notes to this album include language that dehumanizes incarcerated musicians. Smithsonian Folkways has updated our descriptions of albums recorded in prisons to avoid frameworks that wholly attach artists’ identities to their experience in prison. This album is a historical document of not only the stories of its performers, but of the racism of the prison system and the music industry at that moment"

@GraemeE nicely done. Particularly jealous of the lomax
-
@68degreesorless it was criminally (no pun intended) underpriced.....

Fueled by @68degreesorless 's awesome finds in Peru and in preparation for a trip to Colombia (hopefully) taking place next year, I went looking for something cool from there and found this:
