@endo I am requesting that you stop this imagery…please. Seaside dinner, fresh oysters, good company, and chilled cider…where does it end? 🙂

You know, I’m going to say it now: Between the guys hanging out in Germany, @Steve and @Lynne sharing their beautiful trip to Japan, and @Giles and @Madame-Buttonfly heading to France…I don’t know if I like this place any longer. Even @endo sharing his weekend retreat is getting to me…I don’t know if I like this place any longer. Love yes, but like…I don’t know any more ❤️

As a native I would also recommend visiting outside of Oktoberfest season, but I can see how it would be appealing for tourists. How much is a litre of beer in Canada @goosehd?

@Tago-Mago $7.50-9.50 CAD…depending on what you are consuming. Dare say a bit higher if it is a good beer

@goosehd 1 litre of beer at Oktoberfest is roughly €16 = CAD26, a crate of 20 x 0,5 bottles at the supermarket will set you back €20 = CAD32. IMO the quality of beer at Oktoberfest is somewhere between un-offensive and absolute horse piss. I only ever go for the company, not because the beer or the atmosphere is great

FWIW I have a zero alcohol policy when I'm driving, it's just not worth it.

thank god that germany has a halfway decent public transport system, and that my house in the netherlands is on an island we're nobody cares if you're drunk on a bike.

also: i tried out drinking under supervision during my law studies. we needed to drink a certain amount to reach the 0,5‰ limit, that is the max you are allowed to drive with. in my case, that was 1.2 litres of 4.8% beer in one hour (@Tago-Mago insert random Kölsch joke here). never would have driven after drinking that much in the first place. the beer only got me to 0,39‰ anway.
