One thing i do not get all though is on update 3.20 they removed the option to run your PS with Linux, if you already had this as your op sys you were FORCED to remove it otherwise face up to the fact you would be unable to go online with your games etc. Pretty shit if you ask me.I was looking to get a early model PS3 (the MGS 80GB pack), but that firmware BS is problematic. I think I may hold off for now, even though my love for Rockstar and anticipation for the new Red Dead Redemption (the sequel to Red Dead Revolver) will remain unsatisfied if I do. Decisions, decisions.

In problematic i take it you'd want Linux as your operating system yes? If so Shoque may have the answer.

I was certainly considering it, but it's more a reaction to the idiotic move by Sony. Sony specifically marketed the PS3 to be Linux developer-friendly and with the new update…well, it's a dick move.
Using Linux is really an immediate concern as I don't have much experience with it (some Ubuntu and some Slackware, much less active developement) and wouldn't really need it for the games I'd be playing. But if/when I decide to get a basic DAW going, I'll probably want to use a full Linux OS. But, again that's a long term plan. Hopefully shoque's has the inside track on something that works.

I think you have to have firmware 3.15 or lower, otherwise it won't work. I'm not 100% sure though.

Chrono TriggerI grew up on strictly Nintendo, so once Square(soft) moved to Playstation, I had to stop.
Besides, once Super Smash Bros came out, i basically never played anything else. -
Do all new PS3s have no PS2-game support at all or is it just pure luck kind of deal. I actually had a PS2 once but sold it, now I really want to get one again just to play MGS2 and MGS3. But if I buy a PS2 I could as well get the PS3…
As I think Sony totally removed PS2-support, where could I get one of those old models?

The backwards compatibility was only on the first release 60gb's and a certain auction site would be your best bet unless you know someone who's willing to sell you theirs.

I've got a PS3. Played through Killzone 2, Dirt 2, Modern Warfare 2 (several times) and am now working on Metal Gear Solid 4. Next will be Bad Company 2.

Yo Lando, I already purchased the game yo. The 18th I'ma run up in there to pick it up and head back home to start collecting me some trophies! Hahaha. Then the dlc comes out in june, MULTIPLAYER WITH POSSES!!!!!!!!!!

I just pre-ordered it. As I will be in NY without my PS3 there is no need to have it sent until I am back. It shows up the day I get home. I am sure I will play it at my boys in BK when I am away. I have to get my game up!
