You smashed your first race well done that’s a great achievement. Getting back to crawl after losing it is very hard, so well done in that especially. All your hard work is paying off. Bet you’ll enjoy that 70.3.

Many congratulations. I have never had any ambition to do anything like that, but I loved your post - thank you.

Thank you gentlemen. In fact I really enjoyed the write up. Great chance to reflect, especially as I tend to be quite harsh on myself and struggled with my swim. Re-reading, there is a lot more positive than negative.

@Dmart Nice write up. I started to loathe the swim in races, especially in the longer distances. I've been punched in the water. It's quite unnerving.

@goldstone0 yea, people grabbing for your feet, punching you. It sucks and gets you out of rhythm especially if you are not a good experienced swimmer.

Currently averaging 20-25h/week but this won’t be sustainable forever. Right now I have the possibility to really get in on high volume but this will most likely average on 15h/week which is still a lot for me juggling with work and wife.

How’s the speedmax @Dmart you dialled in with a comfortable position to put out big power? All that training volume must have you pretty strong, and tired?

Rather tired than strong hahaha. I had a great bike fit and got closed arm cups for comfort. I may extend the reach a tiny bit for next year as I am more comfortable now. How about you @Nik Any races planned?

No triathlons for me anytime soon, after getting 5th out of 252 runners in my last 100 mile ultra, I want to stick with that and see how well I can do

@Nik Makes totally sense and seems like that’s your thing. Since I’ll be my first long distance I want to finish first and ideally below 11h.

That's a good goal. With flat courses on bike and run you should be able to hold some good pace, although September might be hotter than they are predicting. I think when I come back to IM I might try Copenhagen. Vichy was a tough course, I'd like something a bit faster for my next one.

@Nik Italy looks like an easier course. Certainly flat bike and run. My only concern is that the water could be too warm for wetsuit. This would kill me haha.

Yeah I had to swim Vichy without wetsuit. Pretty slow.
