WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY - WAYDT (PICS)
-
Back onto my front gate build
Running rough sawn timber through a thicknesser to dimension down and then a final run for a finer finish.
This is a very hard timber to work with.

-
32 planks all up to be done, it’s slow going with timber this dense.

-
@Rustygate37 why are some of the end cuts whiteish?
-
@goosehd I sealed the ends not long after I dropped the trees and milled them. My local summer temps get very high and this helps slow down the drying process and help remove splitting and twisting.
These planks are over 7 years air dried -
@Rustygate37 beautiful wood and grain!! What is it?
-
@goosehd it’s called Jarrah and it’s some pretty tough stuff.
-
@Rustygate37 thank you!
-
@scooter I'm looking at the same stuff on a computer screen (8 months ahead of where you are on your job) but if i take a picture of my screen and share it there is a good chance that hidden in the NDAs I had to sign there is language that allows them to dissappear me in a windowless van
