IHM-35-KHA - Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Khaki
-
@V-P Imagine you can't get somewhere to try this on?
I only have experience with UHFs and one Trucker.
I am a size Large in everything, I sold the Trucker in the XL as although it fit, it was a little on the looser side.
Rightly so, most folks recommend taking measurements and going from there. That said I tried on both a Medium and Large in the N1.
I'm probably somewhere in the middle, but went with the Large in the end. Felt like the sleeves would rise a little too much in the medium and the torso was a smidge short.
For reference I am 6'0 and weigh about 155 lbs. I have fairly broad shoulders and pretty long arms.
Hope this helps. The jacket is dope.

Just pulled the trigger on this N1--hope I got the sizing correct!!! It was time to level up my cold-weather jacket game : )

Would it be possible/sensible in theory to oil or wax this jacket? I know there is an oiled one for sale but I have this d-pocket version and was wondering if that would work? To increase the heft and waterproofing a bit

@wildeep It's been done by a few of the members here. One of them is @Nik and you can see his progress here: https://forum.ironheart.co.uk//post/774082
There are others and you can find them using the search function with the terms: wax N1
Right. So I definitely won’t be trying that then!

@Supersonic I would go with a Large to be safe for layering. XL would be too big, Medium might be too fitted but doable. Just me thoughts.

Quick question to all, please help. Has anyone washed and dried this jacket? What is the proper way to clean and wash this jacket. Thank you all
-
@hugothecowboy This is from the product description:
Care Guidelines
- Dry clean (with petroleum solvent) only
- Outer material can be spot cleaned by hand with warm water
- Do not machine wash or tumble dry
- No shrinkage expected when washed according to these guidelines

@RubyRae Hey mate, yeah my response was to another fella asking about sizing.
I went for Large. -
I tried the lightweight N1 at Göteborgmanufaktur and thought the XL was perfect for my build. I'm usually an XL in UHF. I could wear XXL, but then the sleeves are too long.
If the lightweight XL was good for me, would the lined XL version be equally as good with the lining taking up space? Or should I size up for the lined version to an XXL?I have the M65 in Medium but wish I had sized up to L.
-
@rovdjurstorget Probably size up. I have 8 IH shirts, all are L. I tried the lightweight N1 in L and it was hilariously big and boxy on me, it felt like I could fit two of me inside it and it was still a bit short. I went for M in the regular N1 (navy, but they seem to be similar in size).

30 days ago I opened up my closet and found myself struggling to hang in a couple of flannels. It's been that way for years. The struggle to find space. So many shirts, jackets, pants, boots, hats, I never wear, wasting space and missing out of being worn by someone who will truly appreciate them.
So finally, after years of thinking the thought of owning fewer things I really love, over quantity, I started photographing each item I never wear for various reasons, and posted them for sale. Long story short. In 20 days I had sold 9 items collecting more than enough cash to replace them all with this N1 Deck Jacket.
Last night I ordered it in XL, and I'm stoked to finally have enough room to fill out the empty space left behind by all 9 sold items combined.

-
@rovdjurstorget can’t beat having a clear out to make room for one big purchase
-
@rovdjurstorget I thought the same thing originally but have found that M in both would probably be the best option and I'd go Large if I wanted to layer. The lining was not enough on its own to warrant a size up.
Sadly, neither work for me due to my shape. If you're going to be wearing layers under it, definitely take that into account. Sounds like the XL is the way to go based on what you tried on!
-
@DeeDee85 Totally. From now on I’m not buying anything new until I’ve sold enough stuff to completely fund a new item.
-
@rovdjurstorget I had a very similar strategy until I realised that the constant barrage of must have IH pieces far outweighed the value of things I had laying around in wardrobe

-
@DeeDee85 That is the hard truth.
Aside from this jacket, the only thing left in my bucket list is a waxed and lined canvas jacket, and a warm pair of winter boots to withstand this Swedish winter. Then, I’m good.

The N1 is arriving today, I hope I’m not swimming in it.
-
@rovdjurstorget Fingers crossed for you mate

You were correct. It arrived and I'm very happy with the XL. Living in Sweden gives me no option but to always count on being able to layer my warmest sweaters. In this case even my thickest Peregrine Aran jumper. The sleeves were as I suspected an inch too long but they were easily cuffed inwards.
Love it.

Picked up 3XL few weeks ago and wore it almost daily since.
