IHSH-356-GRN - 5oz Selvedge Madras Check Work Shirt - Green

@DeeDee85 yes the fabric is unreal and so sturdy for the weight. I’m looking forward to seeing how it looks and feels after a few washes.
-
@T4920 the fabric is unreal and I agree pictures don’t do it justice but come on, would IH ever compromise on fabric quality? I think we all know the answer.
As an aside, my wife called it ‘cute’ and couldn’t believe it was IH haha.
-
@T4920 I agree!
-
@SKT that’s good to hear, I’m impressed with the fabric as well!
-
@T4920 I definitely know what you mean, the studio pics of these and the red madras shirts seemed really over saturated didn’t they? The red looked almost orange to my eyes.
At first I liked the pattern but not so much the colour so I did what you said and hunted down pics of the shirt from different retailers, where it seemed a little less bright. I was astonished when I opened the package how much darker it was compared to the IH pics.
It really is beautiful and wearable all year, I can only recommend it if you are thinking of getting one? And a great price at the minute! Fingers crossed for more madras in SS25.. -
@DeeDee85 I know this is an old thread, but I wanted your input on this fabric…
I’m thinking of buying the 418 Blue / Black today, and wanted to hear from someone who owns a shirt made of similar fabric what it feels like. Does it drape, or is it a bit more ridged? What sort of hand does it have (soft or more course)?
I’m probably not describing it very well, but I own a 386 5oz selvedge and while I like the shirt, it’s not the most comfortable (to me) for hot weather, partly because of the courser feeling hand (of that makes any sense).
Thanks in advance, Brian

@Brandrea I’ll do my best here to help as I have this shirt and one other in the 5oz madras. I love this fabric for warmer weather. I wouldn’t say it “drapes” necessarily but it has such a soft hand after a few washes. I almost think it feels like what nice cotton percale sheets feel like…kind of smooth and cool feeling. I even prefer it over my 357 dobby cloth for warmer weather even though it’s not quite as breathable. Take care with washing as you can get some shrink if you don’t wash cold/hang dry. I think you will love it. Hope this helps.

@SKT VERY helpful indeed, thank you so much!
-
@Brandrea I think @SKT has covered that better than I ever could but I will say that while they are lightweight they are very much IH pieces. The madras fabric has lots of texture and is seriously beautiful up close. Straight out of the bag I’d describe it as having a cool crispness but by no means stiff. It softens up lovely with washes too.
My only problem with the SS25 madras shirts is the fact that they are all short sleeved and I don’t really do short sleeve button ups. If they were long sleeved I’d be buying every single one, they are that good!
