Will a cold soak do anything? I'm hoping it will soften them a bit.
Well since they are raw and unsanforized they need to touch water. If you were to wear them straight off the bat and not soak or wash them for say a year, the fibers would weaken much quicker and they would prob fall apart/ need repairs much sooner. At the very least they need to touch cold water which will give it minimal to no shrinkage. You could always warm soak just the legs or the whole pair, put them on damp, and wear to dry in order to stretch the waist out. Thing is, eventually they will need to go in warm/ hot water for a clean at which point, they will shrink up…
I would just cold soak the whole thing, wear them till dry for a little stretch, and then maybe warm soak from the pocket bags down. Just what I would do. Good luck! -

If my waist is measured to be 31", do you think I would be able to button the 29"(29.6") IH-666s?

My ideal length for denim is 31.5", should I use this figure when altering when considering shrinkage/stretching?

these are raw and waist gonna shrink with soak so be careful sizing down that much…
re: inseam. length gonna shrink also, and once you hem them, no can return... maybe not wise to hem if you're unsure of what waist size to buy... also how do you plan to wear the jean, hemmed, cuffed, stacked... 31.5 may work well with a straight leg but maybe not a taper

Fell off my bike today right in front of a hospital emergency room doing about 20-25 mph because of some impatient driver.. dislocated my shoulder and nailed both knees. The devils have a couple of blood stains, some black road rash and no holes (got a nice start on one, though…). Ill post some pics tomorrow when the sun is out, but I think they earned their badge of honor and I got my first (and hopefully last) shoulder dislocation

I didn't really like these at first compared to my 634SR, but they've really grown on me. Here's some post-crash, 4 month of random wear shots…
Blood stains… I don't think you can truly call them Devil's without a little blood.
Road burn on the right and a pitiful attempt by the pavement to make a hole on the left. These guys really saved me from messing up my knee pretty bad.

I am sure you all know how much I love my IH-666S. Well today, I made a momentous decision, they're being popped on the shelf for a while.
I tried on a pair of IH-809, (Mechanics jeans) today. Wow, this denim has the feel of million count Egyptian cotton sheets and is super dark. Quite like the relaxed loggersih cut too.
So starting now, I'm going to be beating the shit out off a pair of W33 IH-809.
