I'd say an XL.  I'm a 33/34 jeans but only in third last hole (1 from mid), with little belt left to go into the belt loop.

I have the IHB-01 in brown (thanks to crisone) and really like the look of the brass up against the brown leather. However, I'm not sure if it goes well up against black, which is the next colour belt I'm looking to get. Think the IHB-02 is better for black?

I was thinking the same, I've got the IHB-02 Brown but don't think it looks right with the 9634z, the black with silver buckle would be much better IMO. Just got to wait for a restock of funds.

Shoreman, just buy the IHB-02 from G and swap the buckles from the IHB-01 (if you like the heavy duty buckle)! He has all sizes in Natural in stock.

Just a quick note
black IHB 01 and 634s …..perfect japanese quality and english distribution.
Nothing too add apart from best jean and best belt around..
Pics to follow.
On a bike though the 9634 behaves more manly..otherwise only drawback..
my budget needs to be bigger

Check the size charts for the belt.  If your waist is a true 31 I'd go medium.

I would agree.  I'm 33 and wear an L

I'm not so sure… I'm W29-30 and sometimes wish I had the L belt instead of M...
On jeans with the W measuring 31+
I'm often at the last or next last hole and the belt looks a lil odd
They're so easy to shorten, but I haven't figured out how to lengthen...
