So here this about the average size I use for Tuna in Morocco....

In May, I am going to Oman after predominantly Giant Trevally, I will use this some of the time:

"Some", because it is exhausting, both to cast and then to retrive very quickly whilst bouncing the tip of the rod (this creates a darting splashing on the surface). I can do about 20 casts, then move on something less tiring to fish with....

This one is made by a guy in UK to my spec. It has caught me my biggest Tuna to date, but it is VERY difficult to fish properly and requires a lot of concentration

Like any fishermen, I’m sure you have your biases to colors, brands, etc., but I always do enjoy seeing what’s out there.

…and another question: I was assuming that a tuna popping rod would be long (9-10 feet or longer) and after looking see a lot of them at (7-8 feet). What do you use?

@Giles So a lot of action in the tip with a really strong (stout) backbone. I thought with such a large and powerful fish that you would want a longer rod for the battle and that a shorter rod would tire “you” out faster than the “fish”.

Must be a delicate balance of letting the fish run and pulling him back in…

Fishing so far has been very poor., We are hoping that it is because the tidal coefficient is very low, and we need large currents for the Tuna to hunt and coral the flying fish, but that builds through the week, so fingers crossed....

Today, was very windy with 16 feet waves at times. Decent currents and the fish were on......
