i am ready to place my first order for a IH jeans here, but i'd really like to avoid errors!

I am 1,72 cm (relatively not tall and i have short legs) and slightly overweight at 78kg (well a bit more than that after Christmas and NYE events 😃 ) with large thighs.

I wear regular fits mostly and some slim fits with other brands such as Armani, Ermenegildo Zegna, Diesel, etc… but here, i feel a bit lost with all the cuts and measurements details to be honest.

I'd like suggestions since you surely know more than me... one thing is a fact: definitely not skinny fit for me  😉

Given your description then the 888 cut sounds like the best fit. You could look at the 1955 cut too.

With regards to slimmer models, you could measure a pair of slim jeans that fit you well. Use the same method as IH does (there is a video on the website). Compare the thigh and waist measurements to he published measurements for the 555 cut. This may also work but be careful checking thigh measurements.

Thanks for your advices! Regarding the more regular fit ones, do you think that 634s cut would work too for my specs?

If I may, what are you waist inseam measurements? I think the 634 works for people with a certain ratio of these measurements. I’m W35 and inseam 31”. The 634 can make me look a little shorter and wider because of my short inseam and the low rise on this cut.

A pair of high rise jeans i wear that fits me well has these measurements:

              Waist Flat: 84 cm
              Front Rise: 26,5 cm
              Upper Thigh width: 29 cm
              Inseam: 85 cm
              Hem: 19 cm

Ok, so your waist and inseam are about the same length, I think the 634 will work well on you.

My inseam is shorter than my waist circumference which is why they don’t give me such a flattering silhouette. I do love the top block on the 634 and 666 though.

Do you like a slim (NOT skinny fit) leg and hem, or a 501 type fit?. My first pair of IH were 634s and the hem was a little too wide for my tastes. I am about a 37/38 inch waste, but 6'2" tall. My next purchase was 888s. A nice higher rise, but a bit too roomy in the top block for me (I carry a bit of timber around the midrift).

I've now settled on 555 and own a few iterations. They have a nice rise, a good taper to the leg, and the hem looks good with a multitude of footwear.

One issue will always be finding yourself between sizes and having to size up rather than down. I often have to do that because of my waist size.

                    Hem: 19 cm

With these thighs you will fit into IH‘s slimmer cuts. I believe a 888s with about 33 inch thighs in a 33 might be to flattering for you and the opening is also bigger.

The IH-555s-16 or the IH-MOF-555N seem to match your measurements perfectly. There are pretty wearable in summer as well but should be too warm in temperatures about 38 degrees.

You might check the 777 cut as well.

@Stuart.T @Jordan23  Yes, looking again at the measurements on site i think that even i am not in good shape maybe 634s and 888s would result too roomy and looks goofy on me.

I usually wear regular/slim fit, i like to have a bit of space in the upper leg due to large/thick waist and from knee to down if it is slimmer and close to the leg is ok for me (always, not skinny)

Looked carefully for the 555 cuts and 777 too but maybe that would be too much on me, i am not a thin guy. Maybe a 666 cut would be best deal? What can you tell me about these? Looking for 14oz to wear all along the year, also in summer paired with a lighter other branded model

I am also concerned about waist/thighs stretching with wears, 14oz here are sanforized and it says won't shrink tough. Do you suggest me going true to size?

Thanks again for all your suggestions, i hope i'll be able to give you back in the future

555 would work if you’re bigger in the waist. 666 is straight legged and slim but with a smaller, more fitted top block.

Based on the info you give you’ll probably get on well with any cut if you size the waist correctly, so it comes down to a matter of taste.

oh so with the 666s i would feel blocked on the upper part. What i am concerned is the size to order considering stretch. I see in any 14oz description that they will stretch 1 inch with wear. However any 33 size have already 84-86 cm waist which is my actual measurement so i have fear they will become too large too look good even with a belt. Do you suggest me true to size or 1 size down an some pain with initial wears?

It’s impossible for me to know how the 666 top block will fit you, but it has a smaller top block than the 888 and 555 for sure.

All denim stretches, whichever brand, sanforised or not. It’s what twill weaves cotton does. Buying about 1” smaller than a used pair that fits you well is definitely a good idea with sanforised (non-shrinking) denim. Give it a weeks wear and the waist will have stretched to fit.

                              Yes that's the point  🙂

And i general from what i am seeing i also think that IH jeans fits larger than the jeans brands i own at the moment

Some brands, especially high street brands tend towards vanity sizing (eg. A tagged 34 actually measures 36”). IH don’t do that, but instead provide detailed measurements so customers can do as you have and compare published measurements with a measured pair that fits you well.

yeah i just learned this, i am new to this high quality denim world and i just also realized i spent too much money on useless signatures rather than quality!

Think i'll go with a size 32 14oz 666s cut… 81.8 cm waist will be a pain at the start but if it stretches 1 inch then it will become 84 cm which is my true waist size 33 on my actual used jeans. 555s cut is nice too but i also have thick/large calves and i think they would look too much tight!

really? I thought that once hemmed you can't return them to IH. What i thought is this: i order them and try them, if they are too long i return them back to IH just for right hemming and shipping back.

Yes i got you, i misunderstood your message at first

I think i have found the best deal for me: IH-633 cut sold at Self Edge. It is the 634 cut but with shorter leg openings. So comfy but not roomy/baggy in the upper part, slimmer in the lower part, just as i like  😎

thanks for all the hints and looking forward to post some pics and reviews when it's time!
