Yup, you'll be fine.  With no socks you may even think about going to an 8.5 but you should email George and ask him.  You're definitely safe in a 9.

          Hi all

Noob here… hope you dont consider me rude just registering and coming straight in with a question.

Was wondering whether any of you guys in the UK who have ordered from OSB directly could give me an idea of how long delivery usually takes. I seem to remember USPS are extremely slow from a previous item i ordered from the US.

My shoes were dispatched 4/4/11, and the tracking is showing no updates after 9 days, only that they have been notified to expect the parcel.

How long did you guys have to wait?

          Lee

In future ask me to get 'em picked up by UPS.  My deal is way cheaper than USPS and only takes 3 days.  I'll recharge you….

Damn, wish I'd known in advance. I'll certainly give you a shout if I get some boots for the winter.  🙂

anyone (Lando I'm looking in your direction) handled the new Epaulet shoes? they look much like OSB's offerings, are hand-sewn in Maine (does everyone in Maine work in the shoemaking business), Horween leather, look pretty nice for the money.

Yep, they look good (those from epaulet).
No, I think there is just one shoe factory in Maine producing for everyone.

                      thanks

sure makes you wonder, are all these shoes (epaulet, OSB, bean, yuketen, eastland, quoddy) pretty much the same, with a different name stamped on the inside?

kinda like a lot of the "premium" new US jeans lines… same denim, different patch

George has told me before that Oakstreet has its own atelier, and they do not share with anyone else…

I think it's fair to say that even if there's some overlap with production (though as Seul said, OSB says they do not use the same factory as others) there is a difference in the materials used/offered, styles, and variance in construction.

I'm sure you know, but you run into this with other garment production.  IE Gitman makes their own shirts, as well as Band of Outsiders, Thom Browne, etc.

                                      oh yes of course
I've no problems with the shoes, they're great looking and worth the money
I wish I owned all of them
just shopping for a new pair of shoes and seeing all the new shoes popping up
that are hand-sewn in Maine and so similar looking
and many of them sold by companies not based in Maine
makes you wonder if they're all made by the same people

I don't really want to wait 6 weeks for some OSB's…
trying to decide on a pair of the Epaulets
                                      or some Yuketen angler mocs

I like it a lot on the Yuketen Maine Guides and Red Wings
but not quite as much on the oxfords
and I'm not sure I'll like it at all a year from now on anything other than boots
