Thanks, looks really good. I am a Harley guy, but I would put one of these in the garage for fun.

After being without my bike for nearly 2 weeks (idiotically laid my bike over at work when. I didn't get the kick stand down all the way and bent the shifter, had to wait for a replacement  😢 ) I've been out and about when the opportunity arises, and so far this memorial day weekend has been FANTASTIC weather wise

Tracked down a mount and saddle bag, and while it's "a little) silly to just have one because of the high exhaust on the other side, for sure makes a run out to a not-so-close beer shop easier  😃

In my opinion it is the perfect road bike. There’s just enough power to have fun without getting into too much trouble. One thing is that I knew I wanted the evo engine, and I love how accessible everything is on the bike for maintenance.

Cheers for that @S17. While there's a lot of bike reviews around the web most of them are from people who've only borrowed the press bike or ridden it for a day.

Much prefer to get the option of people who actually live with one if that makes sense.

I would say it depends on the type of riding that you plan? I use my Sportster for around town, commuting and smaller 1-4 hours trips (Although you can do longer rides, people ride across the country in hardtails, so don’t worry).
It’s a great bike. Spent 10k km now on it and never looked back. It’s a great engine, enough power, easy to service and just good sounding.
Maybe if you are on the taller side, you may want to play a bit with bars, pegs and saddle. I’m 5‘11“ on a good day 6’ and don’t have any issues.

If it is "Big bike" you are after…

The Sportster48 has a 1200 engine if I'm not mistaken. Better for highway compared to the 883 engine.
My wife has a 1200T and she likes it a lot. Only downside I can think of is the rather small fuel tank.

The M8 is also a great engine btw. Maybe a Sport Glide? I had one for a year and it was really fun to ride.
I traded it for the Road Glide last year because the RG was my final goal. Else I would have kept the Sport Glide for sure.

Having no destination, I’m never lost.

@Dmart that is basically the type of riding I'm going to be doing most of the time, which is why I've been looking at sportsters and other bikes in that kinda ballpark.

@Signal11 hahaha too big! too big!  😃

but yeh I've been bouncing back and forth between the Iron883 and the 48, being a little on the taller/bigger side the forward controls of the 48 are way more comfortable and I prefer the look, but they are more expensive to start with… I know I could modify an iron to have a similar layout but by the time I've done that it's probably going to work out a similar price to having just got the 48 to start with...

I would chose the one with the best price. You can modify both to your liking afterwards. Test Ride both, or even the 1200 iron (same engine as the 48) and decide. Maybe the forwards aren’t what you are looking for. Prices for Sportsters are increasing here since you can’t get them anymore new.

Did you test ride both? How you feel when riding should be most important.
These bikes keep their value. So if you can afford it, the 48 would be the better choice. Upgrading the 883 will never add the value to the bike what you invest in it.
