@Anesthetist yes I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. No criticism meant to @DougNg at all, I'm sure he's a great person whose last intention is to bring harm to anyone. I was more saying that it's depressing that the state of things is that such a person feels that their only option is to carry a deadly weapon just to be safe. Sorry if that's offended anyone, not intended at all

I’m not sad.
I take the personal responsibility of being able to defend myself. I don’t expect anyone else to do it for me, but if they are available, I will take it.
The world has never been a safe place. Even the most primitive of animals have the ability to defend themselves.
Humans are just the only ones that believe that they’re above it.

I respect your point of view @DougNg, and am guessinf you're in the states where you have the 2nd amendment. In the UK, if you defended yourself with a lethal weapon you'd likely face criminal charges because it would be considered premeditated. Not sure what the answer is, I just think it's a shame we can't do a little better than the most primitive of animals.

Sorry, just to add that the comment on police officers wasn't regarding the isolated cases of police brutality, but rather that the genuine advice of someone in that position was to use such a weapon. Again, not a criticism of the law enforcement officer, just commentary on the state of things. Possibly coming across wrong as coming from a UK perspective

I like that @DougNg.
Personally I'll never pull a knife in self defence, I'll do what I can with these hands, but that's me.
Microtechs are great bits of kit, look forward tk show and tell if you get one

Hell, a weapon isn’t even the third thing I’d do if I were in trouble.
1. Run
2. Threaten and shine flashlight
3. Call for help
4. FightI just make sure I can take each option to the 11th degree.
If I knew I were going to get into trouble in advance, I’d just check into a hotel room where no one could find me, so I maximize my abilities.

Amen to that @DougNg

Well that was fast [emoji23]
What do you think? I really like how intuitive the firing button is compared to my UTX models. It’s not like it’s difficult but sometimes you have to rotate the knife to the right position to fire it. Otherwise, they are peachy little knives and fit well in IH shirt pockets.
Looking forward to your opinion.

I wanted it specifically for carry on my non dominant side, and I like that the slider is easy to actuate. I find it a lot easier to work than the spine sided sliders.
I was on a Microtech binge about fifteen years ago and the sliders on the Ultratechs were stiff and the entire knife was slippery. Wound up selling them.
I just checked the secondary prices of Halo III's and I'm really angry with myself right now…I had four....
Size is right about perfect as a backup weapon, it will be my secondary option on my non dominant side after my pistol when I conceal carry.
My tertiary option in full kit is a Bastinelli Manaia
Today was payday and I got this just because it's cool, I have no clue what the hell I'm going to do with it beyond hanging it on the wall and giggling over how ridiculous it is.
Bastien Coves has been around a while, his designs were always a mixture of fantasy knife with Filipino Martial Art functionality. I wasn't into his early stuff but the specs are pretty good.

Why? He has a family and a right to defend himself both personally and professionally. I’m not defending the egregious attacks that officers have perpetrated but there are legit reasons for drawing a weapon.
I dont know Doug personally, but after reading him on the forums for the last 10 years, he seems to know his shit.
If I’m misunderstanding your perspective and you are making more of a social commentary then I apologize for calling you out. It’s easy to misconstrue opinions in the world that we live in today.

I think it's theoretical. Doug will shoot an attacker before thinking fillets.

That's right. Come to the States and find out what Minnesota Friendly really means. ???

No shit, by tonight I will have three families under my roof with a couple more people still thinking about hiding out here until the protesting/rioting is over. We're right by DC.
My friends and family know my house is basically a fortress, so it's always a party here when shit goes down.

I’ve got a few microtech otf but i think the benchmade infidel series is better for self defense. Sturdy and intuitive deployment.
