Some Horace Andy with Sly & Robbie at Harry J studio, with Robbie coaching every one, from Sly to Dalton, then each musician says a little thing about himself. It was the last day of the sessions, we had recorded live in the studio about 20 songs in 2 days! Then Horace voiced them and the whole thing was wrapped up in a week. Talk about working fast!!!

got copies of a gouple of their albums a while back - but hadn't heard the first track . . . the funny thing is it was a conversation about banjos they came up (how the shamisen is played, sounds etc) . . . anyways this guy was the main topic - he can really play some

Jackie Edwards, a truly unsung hero of Jamaican music. I love this video, it shows how bare bone Reggae is when it is reduced to its essential form: drum, bass, organ, guitar and a singer with a badass voice and a nice little tune… The recording booth wall is lined with egg boxes, in a truly roots fashion, the mikes are rudimentary, everything is minimal, yet it works and it is truly wonderful. I love it.

The true essence of Jamaican music is the dancehall, where artists entertain the patrons by singing or DJ-ing over instrumentals of the hits of the day. Here is a fascinating (at least for Reggae fans!) scene shot in 1984, the golden age for DJ's and rubadub Reggae. It HOT!!!
