The regular straight fit would be most likely the 510 cut.
It comes from 15oz up to 25oz. As you want a heaver denim I would suggest either the 19oz or 21oz.
But keep in mind the 510 is way less tapered than the 888

Thanks for the advice! I planned on being blaspheming and sending them to railcar for tapering.

In that case you could consider the 710 cut, that tapers quite similarly to 888 (but with a more fitted top block, lower rise and less room in the thighs).

The thigh measurements (according to the sizing charts) are far too small for me in the 710.

Have you been able to try a pair on? They are slim but if you’re comparing IHUK measurements to BiG then that may be misleading as they employ different methods.

I have not! BiG is the only American retailer that is allowed to carry them, right?

Have you considered the 510xx in 21oz instead of the 710xx 19oz.

Probably one of my favourite cut and jeans out of about 30+ Japan jeans I have owned.

I definitely have, but the size charts on Denimio and OD are pretty different. I’ll probably just ask them for the largest thigh and smallest waist in a size 35.

I don’t know tbh but if you’re comparing your 888’s measured the IH way to BiG’s 710 measurements then it won’t be an accurate comparison.

That’s probably where I’m going wrong. I’m looking for that ~13.5” post-soak thigh measurements.

There are no accurate sizing charts available for Samurai, as far as I know.

TBH I'd just holla the Denimio CS folks in their chat and ask them to take the measurements for you; they are quite accommodating in that respect.

And any chance sizing… my IH-634 sz 33 fit perfectly, but measurement methods make the comparison super challenging!

That's pretty extreme on a 34-35 waist. I like full cuts and the only pants I have experienced that are in this range are the Roy Peanuts & Memorial and the Tender 132. The SDA 101 is close too, but with a much lower front raise. There are more choices if willing to go down to 13" thighs…

WRT Samurai, the S3000VX is the one I'm looking at right now...

I don't think there's much joy to be had with Samurai for you, unfortunately. Personally, I think their cuts work the best when you are slim and can size for the waist; if you need to size up to accommodate voluminous thighs, you'll end up with lots of unnecessary material around the waist and bell-bottom leg openings.

This a crass generalization, naturally, but if 888 works the best for you then you won't find anything remotely similar here.

Samurai construction also requires a different mindset.  Not that it's bad, just that Samurai made the choice to use all cotton thread, which is considerably less durable than the poly cotton blend that IH uses.  As a result, seams begin to fray more quickly and you'll do more spot repairs.  If you don't mind, or even like, doing that, then great.  But if you don't, it can take a while to accept.
