Had a buddy over last night. These were the highlights.

The real ale market in the UK has really changed in the past couple of years as younger ale drinkers have become interested.

Darker more malty ales have lost interest in favour of hoppy citrus IPad. Shops are awash with bright neon coloured cans and less dark bottle conditioned brews. I suppose because they are at the easy to drink lager end of the taste spectrum, rather than the sit and sip stout and bitter end.

Either way, as long as they are brewed by small breweries and not owned by Guiness or Coors etc it's a good trend.

Found a good beer shop in Kona.  Month old Modern Times and a decent selection of sours and lambic.  Currently drinking the Modern Times and it’s mighty tasty…

Just got an email from the guys at HonestBrew:

I knew I wasn't totally crazy when I was drinking that beer!
Apparently, the brewery over-carbonated the batch.

Fruity, and slightly sweet IPA… But too "frothy" for me...

The same with the Luna that Maddy is drinking.

I would buy it again though

UPDATE:

HonestBrew is giving me a credit for the both Verdant's that I ordered (Luna and Neal Gets Things Done), due to the over carbonation making them too lively.

"Very lively pouring" is a great phrase.  Solid customer service, too.  This would make me a customer, if it were feasible.

HonestBrew is great. I'm currently having a big arse problem with my last order from Hop Burns & Black… Stuck at customs... Bpost can't help... Took two days before some from HB&B mailed me back saying they'd look into the problem... Meanwhile my IPAs are in some depot... Probably not airconditioned either... During a heatwave...

It never rains but pours, right...
