Eli, the tape has been a very welcome addition to the collection.  I even took this pic when I got it:

And my collection has now expanded to:

Just two more tapes and the split LP's and I will be quite happy!

One last update for tonight.  Stopped by the local coffee shop.  Less for the coffee, more for these excellent ricotta cookies they sell there.  I can't help myself.  I have to get them any time I am walking by (first picture is iphone quality  :():

Okay, yesterday was super busy, and I did a massive amount of things, so I will try and focus on the most interesting part for the time being.  Northeast PA had 3 ice storms in a row over the 2 weeks or so, and my parents pretty much took the brunt of it all.  Not only did their transformer blow, but the wires came down, shorted all of the wires into the basement (phone, dsl, and electric) and started an electrical fire in the basement.  The fireman said that if the fire had spread any more it would most likely have caused the oil tank(also in the basement) to explode.  Since my fiance and I were heading that direction for a bridal show, we stopped by the house (my old house) to check out the damage and to see how everything was progressing after all the ice storms.  Turns out everything is still covered in ice after a week of somewhat warmer weather and is pretty much only a place for those who enjoy the rugged outdoors (a perfect place for Iron Heart).  Here are some pics.

This is where the lines came down.  According to my dad, the road actually caught on fire and it was pretty much a fireworks show for him, at least before the basement caught on fire.

A somewhat blurry picture of the new incoming lines and the ice that is still covering mostly everything.

Tree branches had fallen all over and ice dams were plentiful.

                          Scene from outside the basement.

Interior basement, along with some of the old wires.

New breaker box.  This is really nice because since the house is so old (well over a hundred years) my dad hadn't even updated to a breaker box.  He was still using fuses.

Inside of the house.  This is obviously when parents realized there was a problem.

The outer deck leading to the back yard was treacherous, and we had to tiptoe around to avoid falling.  Their is literally 2-3 inches of ice covering the ground.

This is the nicer view.  The backyard and woods where I grew up.  About an acre of meadow and 11 acres of woods.

Still about a foot of snow on the ground.

                          And ice covered trees above.

So for my next update, I wanted to introduce everyone to where I work.  I think I may have mentioned I am a grad student / researcher at the moment working towards my PhD in Mechanical Engineering.

"Dressed" up for a day at work:

I work at the Drexel Plasma Institute, which recently relocated to Camden New Jersey at the Camden Waterfront Technology Center:

We are on the 5th floor which gives us some very nice views of both Philadelphia and Camden.  This is the view from my lab:

                                      Ben Franklin Bridge:

                                      Camden:

In general, I work on Plasma for environmental applications and green chemistry.  More specifically, I have been working on projects for hydrogen production and CO2 emission reduction for refineries.  I actually work with some very dangerous gases (hydrogen sulfide - rotten egg smell) so safety is important, and we have special fume hoods designed for this:

A closer view of the most important equipment:

                                      and for analysis:

                                      And my plasma discharge:

                                      and an action shot:

believe it or not that column of plasma is approximately 3000 K, and we have insulated it well enough with air flow that I can put my fingers on the quartz tube around it.

And, after a hard day working with smelly stuff, I always enjoy:

Camden!  Ah, those pics bring back memories.  I spent 3 years on the other side of the RCA building.  I love the Ben Franklin bridge; used to run across it a couple of times a week.
