OK, something less (or more) intimidating, depending on your viewpoint: The Casio F-91W.

The Guardian and Highsnobiety have similar pieces saying that this cheap, little Casio is the choice of hipsters and terrorists everywhere.

The little Casio is accurate, durable, and can easily be modified to act as the timer on an IED.

Also something less or more intimidating:

I feel like this thread needs some guidelines as what is "less intimidating".

For me, the sub 1k USD mark can lead to a really interesting conversation. I love my luxury timepieces, but the accessibility of a sub 1k watch is intrigueing.

Plus less expensive watches generally go through more ugly things and have better stories. I'm trying to get a picture of my friends watch that was damaged when he breached a door with an explosive charge (as part of a SWAT team).

I just pulled the trigger on the watchuseek forum for a bronze Evant Tropic dive watch with a black fume dial, basically this model:

          http://www.gnomonwatches.com/tropic-diver-bronze-fume-black-limited-edition-100-sold-out

I've been wanting a bronze dive watch for a while. My itch is scratched, for now.

Ha, you said "pulled the trigger"

Chris is going to love that 😉

                Joss - no 'h'.  😉

I thought of you actually because the bezel has that vintage look you also see on the Fifty Fathoms.

I compiled a list of diver's bronze watches. A couple (Oris, Eterna) are above the $2,000, but the others are mostly sub $1,000. A couple are brass, and some models are not available at this time. For your enjoyment:

What sort of information is on the spreadsheet?

For the watches? Brand, model name, Bronze v. brass case, color of bezel, of dial, width, height, ATM waterproofing, movement, URL, price, whether currently available, and notes on design.

For the clothes, just the various measurements in inches & cm for the various models.

I find that a lot of cheap watches are knock-offs hommages of the sorts of timepieces that don't belong in this thread.

However, I saw these in a piece at aBlogToWatch, and they look fun.

The watches are The Last Laugh XL and The Last Laugh Tattoo XL by Mr Jones Watches, and I like them.

The time is read off numbers, in the mouths of the skulls. The hours jump, whilst the minutes rotate.

The Farer Aqua Compressor is a nice looking diving watch with a compressor case. These have the rotating bezel ring fitted internally, and it's rotated by one of the crowns.

The watch uses an ETA movement that's been decorated. It looks rather nice in the display back.

Time and Tide watches have a favourable review, if you want to read more.

The UK list price is £1095, or $1295 in the US. That's a little above the price limit mentioned earlier. Sorry. 🙂

The Emile Chouriet Challenger Deep is a similar price to the Farer, above. I don't think that it's as successful a design, but it is dressier.

There's a review at aBlogToWatch, which is hilarious in its pickiness. (Why doesn't it have a natural rubber strap instead of silicone? How dare they call it the Challenger Deep when the brand has no heritage!)

The trouble is that Jomashop are offering the Oris Divers Sixty Five for about $1100 to $1200, and I'd get one of them instead.
