Never seen a bolt action spyderco–shows you what I know.

Curious how it compares to benchmade's axis lock?

Looks great; I dig those scales

You're a CRK guy, correct? Big shoes to fill but their Taichung made models have incredible fit and finish. The Golen, CO models don't disappoint either.

The Sage 3 is the only knife to feature it. They made two versions, a blue G10 and this one. It's a shame too because it's an amazing design. Feels similar to the axis but the internals are very different. A bolt wedges between the tang and an "anvil" in the handle. As such it needs a closed back construction, which some don't like. It has a standard compression spring instead of the omega spring in the axis, and you can't tilt one side relative to the other like you can on the axis. The action is incredibly smooth on the BAL but it has a weaker self close than a back lock would. All in all it's a great semi-fancy but very capable little blade. It's an underrated Spyderco design for sure, but the whole sage series is great

Small Sebenza and Ti-Lock are the only two knives I've kept all these years… The Ti-Lock is completely useless as a work knife (or maybe I haven't used it enough), as it's a pain to close one-handed, and a bitch to clip onto your pocket... But it's so effin beautiful...

Still (yes: still) looking hard at a Hinderer XM-18 3" though...

Ive got an XM-18 3.5" Seul. I find it to be very well built and seems like i can withstand extreme abuse. But, its too wide for my jean pocket. Its a lil heavy and although mine flips well(not great), i hear that most dont flip well at all

Also have a small sebenza insingo blade. It is much easier to carry

I'd get the 3", and I'd either buy the non-flipper or buy the flipper and manually open it…

3" may still be a lil fat. Mine is almost impossible to open one handed with the thumb stud. Great quality knife, but i was a lil let down for edc

Good intel… It'd defo not be an EDC... Maybe a back-up to the back-up that is the Ti-Lock...  😉

I like that knife. Looks like they use Benchmades manual axis open. I think thats what it's called. Only cuz I have one and it's the only type of opening system I want now….So quick and easy.

Thanks for the vid @tvenuto . I love my benchmade, only had it for about 3 years but my daily carry. Wouldn't mind a slightly smaller daily carry though, just don't have the funds for a while. Spyderco is a good chance of being my next knife. Have to look into their metal they use in their blades.
