Two movies I highly recommend for very different reasons that I watched recently:

        Hell or High Water -

        - Because Texas bank robbers being hunted by a smart old sheriff played by Jeff Bridges is a recipe for success.  Side note, the film is Oscar nominated.

        Gleason -

        - Movies don't make me cry.  This one made me cry like a baby.  Possibly the best documentary I have ever seen.

Hell or High Water is excellent. Can highly recommend Manchester by the Sea, as well.

Meek, mild and dishonest with a special place in Hell.

Just got back from seeing Lion. Probably my favourite of the Oscar nominated films I've seen.

^I just watched that again recently. Great movie. I actually got to watch a couple of the scenes being filmed as it was filmed in the town I grew up in.

You are actually the 2nd forum member to mention this movie so I had to check it out. I hate you forum folks for making me watch this movie. Incredible journey those folks are on & strong isn't a good enough word to describe them.

Watched "Suicide Squad" for the first time the other night. What were they trying to do with it? I'm not sure I enjoyed a single scene (Although seeing areas of Toronto I know really well was kinda entertaining). I watched the extended cut too in the hope that it would be more coherent but nah... it flopped around all over the place. Anyone want to help me understand it a bit better?

watched a 2015 film named Anesthesia a little heavy handed in some parts but it was a good what's the meaning of life type of film.

@madmonday - My take on Gleason; Gleason is the story of a dysfunctional relationship between a boy and his father where the boys need for love, approval, acceptance, praise, recognition etc are not consistently being met by the father, if at all. This leads the boy to become self sufficient, relying less and less on his father, and striving to be the best he can where, through his success, he receives all that he wanted from his father but now from his adoring colleagues & fans. His wife then effectively meets his needs going forward, through his retirement from the game, post ALS diagnosis and the birth of their son. However, whilst his disease is progressing the increasing needs of his young son are leaving his wife less available for Gleason. Gleason then dives into fund raising which, for a time, meets his needs for  love, approval, acceptance, praise, recognition etc until he realises these fund raising activities are affecting his relationships with his wife and son. Finally realising this he pull back from fund raising and re-focuses his love and attention on his wife and kid.
