      the aussie heat. 😛

seriously though, this was awhile back when i moved to perth. on the washing machine i had back in singapore, i could select the temps; 20, 40, 60 or 80°C. but in perth, the model only had hot, cold or a mix. so without prior testing, i selected hot and washed it. 😃 quite the smart arse i must say.

A couple of years ago, I sent my 634s in to IHUK to be hemmed. Whoever did the work (Matt?) threw some heavy twist on the denim, leading to the most intense roping I've ever seen.

Wonder of all wonders, a pair of Giles' Vulcan (from 2009!) floated up on to ebay for a fraction of retail in mid December 2016, new with tags. And I know my place: Iron Heart is my home. There are photos on Giles' original release post (http://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3893.0) but I feel they deserve a few really nice youtube videos. These jeans are a handy man's wet dream. There are extra pockets everywhere; 5 for sure then a coin pocket novelty that allows a swiss army knife sife tool to be slid through it, perpendicular. I obviously feel fortunate to have snagged these.

This denim is so responsive! 4 weeks of daily wear with an initial hot soak. In the left fron pocket photo you'll notice a shadow; this is a Bic lighter in an inside compartment, which was an initial unrevealed detail (I haven't come across any prior mention of it.) The double selfedge id on the back pockets is like early Pantera; groovy and ferocious! I've pulled the thighs up all the way already, took 14oz Nudies longer. I do a very leg focused sport so my thigh to waste ratio is fairly troubling when it comes to 100% denim (non stretch). These guys are let out a little in the thighs vs the standard 634-S (Giles' own modification), so maybe 25 inches. They just barely cut it! So any powerlifter or average gym rat will be fine in 634-S I think. 29 inches is slightly bigger than true waste. I think that's very important to note about the 634-S: unless someone is elite level Bodybuilder, Powerlifter, or Olympic Weightlifter, they'll fit these jeans just fine. There's a lot of hesitation from the average gym rat buying raw denim, they worry about not being able to fit the thigh.

By hip do you mean the back pocket? I carry a benchmade pocket knife clipped in at the top

Sorry, yes I meant back pocket. I used to carry a clipped knife like that but I completely destroyed our car seats with the clip, not to mention gouging the dining room chairs…

1st soak nearly hot as warm can be soak plus a machine rinse ultra gentle spin. 6-7 weeks daily wear in light/active conditions. Then a cold shower stretch massage rinse hang then squat in cold and damp. Stubborn is right. Incoming Triple ring/dog tag keychain to decorate.

I did this as I stretched and straightened them. I have at least temporarily uncuffed them. To let it find it's home in stead of forcing it. Freezing cold showers during upstate NY winters don't happen very often for a reason; you dont get to step out into something like 24+ degrees and I was in a hurry.
