I saw the Teranishi Venture at the Carryology Store a few months back, and it's a really nice piece. I'm tempted by one myself.

        Enjoy!

I'm tempted by the Quadzip, and Dufflepack. @Anesthetist might want to take a look at the Double Action Strap, as I think that a few people have used them as upgrades for the SDR Traveller.

Thanks for the code Graeme, I might get a set of the straps. One my only problems with the D3 is that in backpack mode, it can be a problem getting the bag on my shoulders. There isnt a lot of space and my arms get caught which makes the straps shift which is a real pain. Once it is set up, it's great but it is a real chore.

I was thinking of getting the Quadzip and a couple of flat packs with the code, but it worked out as a $60 discount, which was pretty much wiped out by $50 in shipping. I don't need a backpack desperately at the moment, so I'll pick one up at a later date, ideally when I'm in the States.

The other temptation was the J. Panther Ventile RucTote, but Well Dressed Dad's Review suggested that the straps might be a bit short to wear it as a backpack. I've met Nick, and he's a bit shorter than me, so I think that it would be a problem.

Ah well, off to save up for the Bole rucksack. 😛

                  Great thread, this.

I am leaning towards the Bedouin Delireis rucksac as my next daily bag and am waiting for restock of the khaki colour before heading over to the shop to check it out in person. Another bag that I like the look of is the Collected Works military duffle rucksac. Has anyone seen or own one? I wonder if it might be too large for a day-to-day bag.

Tokyobikes in Shoreditch have the Delireis in store I believe, as does Kinoko Store (who once again have a bricks and mortar store in London). You could also consider the Bedouin Foundry Pequod, which looks pretty decent.

The Delireis is quite a small bag, so you might want to consider the Ottoman instead. If you're in London, you could always pop down to the Bedouin store.

@C64 the size of the Collected Works Duffel is 19" x 12" x 6". That's on a par with a large daypack, such as the Topo Designs Klettersack. It works out as a 20 to 25 litre backpack.

I'd second visiting Kinoko, they've got a selection of interesting bags. I like the look of the Suolo Nappasac and South2 West8 Trek Pack.

I'm after a good canvas tote, something with short handles to carry & then a shoulder strap too. Mainly for everyday use, any recommendations? I've had a filson, but don't fancy another one. Thanks.

Lots of options from various brands….....

Thrux lawrence (although no shoulder strap). Not seen tote in the flesh but handled the IH collab backpack and duffle. The construction is literally something that you could beat someone to death with!

                              Master-piece Japan

                              Superior Labor

South2West8 (pretty sure they do some canvas ones)

Bedouin Foundry do a nice roll-top tote. They also used to do another one which was really nice and had multiple pockets but sadly no more!

Porter (I have owned ballistic nylon and cordura ones that were great, but they do one or two canvas ones).

Very good technical offerings from Bagjack in the form of their NXL tote. But it is massive!

You might also wish to consider some of the helmet bags on offer from companies like RMC/Porter. Although not canvas, they tend to have carry handles and shoulder straps, can hold more than a tote in some instances, look more rugged and you can pick them up for a good price.

My pleasure mate. Hope it helps. Re the Superior Labor ones. The best place in terms of variety is Rakuten.

@Graeme, @Cutlasshound thanks for the pointers on the bags. I've been meaning to head over the shops that you both mentioned but am waiting to see if the Delireis in khaki would come back in stock first. I find that there's nothing worse than doing a recon trip to check the goodies out and deciding I want it but the colour isn't available.

The other bag I checked out a while ago at Son of a Stag was the Tanner Goods Wilderness backpack. I really liked it but they didn't stock any of the colours that I liked. Has anyone from the U.K. ordered directly from the Tanner Goods website?

Glad to help, and if you go for a Wilderness Rucksack, get one in the salt and pepper fabric. They feel a lot lighter than the canvas, and I don't see the point in a heavy bag.

The Delireis is quite a lot smaller than the Wilderness Rucksack, the roll-top design means that the dimensions are bigger than it is in reality. You might find the Pequod and Ottoman to be more suitable.

You jogged my memory of why I hesitated moving forward with the Wilderness backpack at the time. It certainly felt hefty and I wondered if the joke would get old really quickly after a few outings. Thanks for the tip about the salt and pepper version and I will check them out too.
