Thanks Geo..yeah they look incredible. Have a slight leaning for the Russell Mocassin at the mo. Bit cheaper but takes an age to get them (18 weeks?!). The Yuks may still get the nod though! How do the Yuks size? I've read you have to size down? I'm a uk9 normally. Thanks again!

I am also a UK 9 in most shoes and boots.  I bought a pair of Yuk, scotch grain brown angler shoes from Bureau in Belfast ( great store if you have not familiar with them, check them out online ).  I sized down 1/2 size and the fit is spot on.  If I had bought a US 10 ( UK 9 ) they would have been too loose for sure.  If you are buying them online without having tried them first then I would suggest you buy them in size US 9 1/2 ( UK 8 1/2 ).

The shoes themselves are really well made, I have been very impressed with them and can recommend them highly.  It is only the high price that put folks off, however the old saying of "you get what you pay for" is certainly true for Yuk products.

        Hope this helps

The Yuketen Maine Guide Boot definitely runs 1/2 to 1 full size large. I'm between a 9.5 and 10 on most shoes, 9.5 in an Alden Indy. If I recall the Yuk's only come in full sizes, I bought a 10 and it was a full size too large.

As an aside, the Yuketen stuff I find terribly hard to find online. They have a rather broad selection on their site (no online store there of course) but most pieces can't be found anywhere that I've come across.

Here are my winter beater, bought from Schuh Bertl in Munich. They are called ´Biker Boots´.

I really like them. Very hard to get  in and out, especially in the beginning but of course, will get better with time. I really like the fit of these boots though it takes some time to melt them to your toe style. Decent boots! Unless you plan to buy a 45 (stock example) these are made to order and my pair took about 3 month to be done but was fully worth it!

If you plan on using these in areas <-20°C I suggest either getting them one size bigger, so you can put on a pair of thick socks (keep in mind you wont be able to wear them with normal socks then..) or - my personal advice - buy that pair and ask to have it fleece lined.

              SimonQ.

i have a pair of these and as far as traction goes they are excellent for snow.the only problem i`ve had with them were gross salt stains due to walking in snow all the time.

I notice that upper buckle arrangement is made like in old german military boots. I like that.
                  how much are those? Web-link?

                  Nice boots indeed.

Yep, I guess Giles ordered the exact pair - this guy has taste 😉
Just had a quick glance at the shop page and that pair isn´t listed any longer though I think it still can be ordered.  The price was somehow lower than 400€ I think, maybe 380€ with shipping or something.

@injunjack: tried that but it didn`t really work.after two days i got salt stains again.the best way to remove salt stains was cleaning them with milk.i ended up impregnating them with a spray and that did the trick… ::)

better to do things little by little when you apply preservatives, let it soak in

you can get good products from equestrian supply websites - it's one area where people still take real good care of leather and equipment
