They didn't reshoot it, but they did some 'reshoots'. The vast majority of films will wrap and then do some more filming before release.

Reshoot, to shoot (a film, scene, photograph) again… Putting an 's' on the end doesn't change the meaning, just denotes plural.

Regardless of whether majority of films reshoot post production, there was controversy as to why David Ayer went back to certain scenes...

That mixed with Ayer supposedly having only six weeks to write the script doesn't instill much faith in DC's direction.

Hey, I'm just some idiot who works in the film industry. What would I know?

There were rumours that Warner Bros. produced two edits of Suicide Squad. The first was supervised by David Ayers, the director. The second was done by the company who put together the Bohemian Rhapsody and Ballroom Blitz trailers, and was the one shown in cinemas.

Ayers's cut is supposed to be a bit darker and more sombre. Maybe it'll turn up on a DVD at some point.

There's not necessarily a problem with reshoots. Fury Road apparently had a fair amount done, and that turned out OK. Extensive reworking of a film might indicate issues, especially when there's studio interference. Rogue One is rumoured to be a victim of this.

I think that Dylan's right when he brings up limited preparation time. These movies tend to have a date announced before production begins, and often an aggressive schedule.

I went to see League of Gods today, which is a strange, Chinese Kung Fu fantasy film. I'm not sure it really made that much sense, but it looks pretty.

^It certainly looks… interesting at the very least.

              New Star Wars spin-off trailer

Really disliked (hated) Episode VII, so no high expectations.

Went to the theater and watched the new Star Trek.  Meh.  Lots of action, not much plot, even less character development.

Sat on the couch and watched The Man From U.N.C.L.E.  Fun, but forgettable.  Guy Ritchie movies have a certain sameness to them.

I caught Sausage Party today. It's very wrong, and very funny.

Today's viewing: Kubo and the Two Strings. It's a bit more sombre in tone than some of the trailers suggest, but I enjoyed it. Laika rock. 😉

Rogue One meets the Beastie Boys. It's a fan trailer that's been getting a bit of attention recently.

I really enjoyed Marshland as well! Great atmosphere and settings. Does remind me of True Detective.

I went along to see High Rise, Ben Wheatley's take on a J.G. Ballard novel.

It mixes brutalist architecture, class warfare, and the breakdown of society. And Luke Evans gets to rock a Wrangler denim Western shirt. 😉

It's an interesting film. I enjoyed it, but it's not necessarily easy viewing. I've read a few of Ballard's short stories, and I think it captures the nightmarish quality that some of his work has.

                                @Chris:

Finally got around to watching The Big Short.  I heard lots of good things about this one, and it was still better than I expected.

not surprising, the book really goes into the characters a lot more- if you liked the movie and don't mind reading- I'd highly suggest it

I caught Blood Father last week. A girl gets into trouble with a drugs cartel. Unfortunately her father is Mad Mel, the angriest man alive. I quite enjoyed it, and Gibson is still very good at what he does, but he does have much better films in his repertoire.

I went to see Nerve today. The third act takes a bit of a leap, but the visual style is great. Plus the cute girl likes the guy with the Triumph motorcycle, which is a sentiment I can get behind. 😛

Incidentally there's a "get up to 60 mph" sequence in the film. I don't know why it takes so long, maybe the air cooled Bonnies are a bit anaemic, but mine would be up there in about three seconds. 😉

If I had a full head of hair and a beard, you could call me Captain Risky. 😉

It's just that the bike struggles to get up from 55, 56, 57… They accelerate really fast, and so the sequence of trying to build up speed against the clock doesn't really play true.

Of course, I could point out that a lot of the tech details aren't realistic in the third act either. But that would be getting into spoiler territory. 😛

Have you ever watched a 'Fast and the Furious' movie and counted the number of gear changes in a 1/4 mile race?
